Do y'all have any recommendations for lenders who specialize in loans for new businesses/companies looking to get started or would a local bank be my best bet to secure funding to buy some heavy equipment?

I have livestock and undeveloped land with electricity and rural water supply in place, in a highly sought after school district within the Concho Valley, to use as collateral if need be.

I'd look at dealer or manufacturer financing. There are also companies like AgDirect that will finance equipment too. If those don't work, then yes, I'd look at a local financial institution like Farm Credit or a community bank.

What are you trying to develop? A subdivision? If so, I've known one to pre-sell a few lots at a discounted price to use as a down-payment on loans to develop (pavement, electricity, etc). My friend made out like a bandit as the pre-sold (undeveloped) lot was Lake Travis waterfront. He later bought the lot next to his at the developed market price that costed 4x.

Starting an oilfield service company, doing remediation work and some other services like site clean up and anchor testing as well as expanding into tubing testing eventually.

SBA lenders have some very aggressive start-up loan programs for all kinds of businesses, objectives and circumstances.

I had two clients that got involved with university people advising them. Need to be sure the advisor has some actual work experience in the area he or she is advising in, and not just a textbook academic.

Because I don't have the cash laying around to buy a work truck, a gooseneck trailer, a track loader and a midsize excavator to get started with the remediation work. I have enough cash on hand to buy a used midsize excavator but not the other pieces of equipment without getting a loan.

Do most people you know have 100% of the funds they need to start a business just laying around?
