Anyone using a local bank for HYSA?

I have 50-100k in my business that is just sitting their for a scheduled payment in 5 months. I would like it to do something. Would prefer HYSA since it is easier than going through Treasury Direct. I would prefer a local bank but seems like they all have abysmal rates. Looked at Vera, First Financial, and Aggieland CU.

First of all, I'm not sure why you would need a local bank for a HYSA. If you truly want to maximize your return, the online banks will beat local banks easily, and you can get your money out just as quickly when you need it.

Second, I'm guessing your reference to TD was about T Bills. If so, you can buy T Bills much more easily through Vanguard, which is what I do, and never have to mess with TD.

Not sure why you would need (or find one worth a damn) a local bank for HYSA. Any real chance at a high yield will be with an online institution.

Thanks for the info. Will probably go the online route. Just wanted to try and bank locally if I could. Local banks are the only reason I was able to start my business. The big guys just laughed.

4.15 with 1% extra for 3 months if you use a referral (link above). Then if you refer someone an extra 3 months. 5.15% for online savings is hard to beat.

Just got bumped to 4.15 - so 5.15 with the referral. Pretty crazy for HYS.

My online brokerage accounts are paying 4%+ for cash deposits. Pretty simple.

Which brokerage?

I'm considering switching my trading accounts from TD Ameritrade once I'm forced to move to Schwab soon.
