Howdy Ags! The athletic calendar is starting to head down the home stretch and I thought it would be interesting to gauge the TexAgs pulse on two Aggie sports related topics...

1. What was your favorite moment of the A&M athletic year ... your single favorite game, win, play, etc. in any sport?

2. Who was your absolute favorite Aggie athlete across the board during the 2022-23 athletic season?

I'll be interested to see the results from each question. Let me give you my answers...

1. There are some great candidates ... the SEC Championship runs for Aggie women's golf and women's tennis ... the win over Alabama at Reed Arena for Buzz Williams and A&M basketball ... but I have to go with Aggie football closing out an extremely disappointing season with a dominant 38-23 win over Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers at Kyle Field. That made it three straight wins over the Bayou Bengals at home and gave the Aggies some much-needed juice on the recruiting trail and overall program momentum heading into an offseason of extreme importance. Plus, I brought my kids and it was just a fun night at Kyle Field. Devon Achane ripping off 215 yards on 38 carries in his final game in maroon and white ... Conner Weigman hooking up with Moose Muhammad 5 times for 94 yards and a touchdown ... Demani Richardson's 27-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown to turn a 17-17 game upside down and start a scoring barrage for Texas A&M that blew the game open in favor of the Aggies. A good time was had by all wearing maroon that night, and hopefully that night was a sign of much greater things to come as we inch closer and closer to the starting line of the 2023 season.

2. I have to go with Dexter Dennis. I knew quite a bit about Dexter's story because Megan's uncle Mike James was an old point guard at Wichita State and is on the board of the WSU Foundation. He stayed pretty plugged in up there so I had a perception heading into the A&M basketball season of the kind of player the Aggies were getting. But who we got was leaps and bounds better and more impactful than I had anticipated. Dexter arrived in College Station right before the start of the fall semester and immediately began to make his mark on this basketball team, and as solid of a roster as A&M already had prior to his arrival, Dennis' impact on both ends of the floor and in the toughness and leadership department gave the Aggies a team capable of competing for an SEC title right to the very end of the season. And quite honestly, in just one season in Aggieland, he changed the trajectory of the program and sort of became a poster child for the Portal and what coming to A&M and diving in to Buzz Williams' culture can do for your pro future (as evidenced by Dennis' soaring stock during pre-Draft evaluations) and your life after basketball. I could have gone a lot of directions here - Moose Muhammad, Wade Taylor, Boots Radford, Trevor Werner, Evan Aschenbeck, etc. - but the easy choice for me was Dexter Dennis.
