They are offering a high percantage rate because they *need* your money. May the odds be in your favor.

I'm just under the FDIC limit for me and my wife. Still very concerned about it. Should I be?
I would suggest not doing something you're uncomfortable with, with your money in the first place. You should come to terms with it before you make your decision and action on it.
That being said if you're under the FDIC limit, and the account is FDIC insured.... I wouldn't personally be concerned.

Why didn't you just move it from BofA to Merrill for 5.02% or 5.22%? Easy enough to keep in under the same umbrella and keep your preferred rewards status for credit card bonus points...
Goldman is paying 5.38% on cash, but only normal FDIC limits.
Raymond James has an offering paying 5% which is FDIC insured to $50 million.
Goldman cash can be withdrawn same day. Ray-J takes a couple of days.
