No references, but based on even my cursory experience working for a middle market company doing business there, it's like doing business in Louisiana. Account for 10-20% extra room in the budget to pay "fees" and other local "taxes" that I'm sure just grease the pockets of local leaders.

Depending on where in the country, you may have to hire security as well. I've never really felt unsafe in a resort town or in Mexico City (at least no different than many other major cities), but other places is another ballgame.

Best of luck with your new venture! I'll see if any of the firms my company retains have contacts down there.

Ha ha, 100% on the fees expectation. The plan it to focus on Mexico City and Guadalajara so relatively "safer" areas.

Thank you.

I have opened up a subsidiary office in CDMX with the help of a Mexico based attorney and accountant to handle payroll tax filings and what not.

Attorney - Garcia Barragan Abogados. Helped with initial filings and employment contacts. POA to open bank accounts on our behalf.
CPA equivalent Accountant - Anguiano Contadores. Helps with IMSS, SAT, local taxes, etc.
Staffing - Staffbridge for our first two hires, everyone else came from referals. Note that these agencies helped come up with a compensation package for things that a US person wouldnt think of as standard, ie, "vales"
Banking - Banorte. I have found their English support helpful on days where I dont feel like thinking in Spanish.

Its like a prepaid visa card that you can use at restaurants. My team loves it.
