That can trace an individual stock from purchase to present day, and include any reinvested dividends?

I have a small handful of individual stocks I bought, somewhat on whims, 30 years ago. There have been spin-offs, reinvested dividends, etc….. to a point I only know about the initial buy price and nothing more. I'm wanting to shuck some of this to my kids for Christmas, and a cost basis at sale will be……………..difficult.

Suggestions?

Yes, I am a lazy fool on this part of my portfolio. There are solid blue chips, and some dogs I should have shucked years ago.

I'd love this too. There have been times I used yahoo finance historical data to compute cost basis to the best of my ability.

Nowadays brokerages track and report cost basis to the IRS, so they should be able to provide it to you

If you have an adviser, they should be able to do the leg work and get close enough to get your blessing.

If original purchase dates and amounts are known, not that hard for cost basis research department to handle.

Go to the stock's website and find the Investor Relations page. One blue chip I looked at has a historical price look up with a split adjustment factor.

NOTE: The Closing Price, Day's High, Day's Low, and Day's Volume have been adjusted to account for any stock splits and/or dividends which may have occurred for this security since the date shown. The Split Adjustment Factor is a cumulative factor which encapsulates all splits since the date shown. The closing price is not necessarily indicative of future price performance.

I did this for XOM because I've carried it for 30+ years across a few platforms. It worked fine. At the time, XOM used a third party provider to purchase their stock directly and I don't recall who that was but that's where I did this.
