I'm new in investing and have mostly been doing ETFs and mutual funds. I thought I'd try my hand in some dividend stocks and was reading that Chubb (CB) is recommended by Warren Buffett. It seems good in my limited knowledge. Can anyone offer some feedback?

I will catch a ban for the jokes I want to make about the dividends I get from Chubb.

Yeah recommended because he makes money if more people buy it. If Berkshire isn't buying up shares this stock is going nowhere lately. Much better investments out there unless you are super wealthy looking to really diversify. Just my know-nothing opinion. Look no further than BRK-B to see how Warren's picks are doing lately. Once we exit this bull market he may be the wisest again but not right now.

That's kind of what I was afraid of. Thanks.

1. Buy 1000 shares of ULTY.
2. Rake in $90-100 distributions every Friday.
3. ????
4. Profit.

So you've lost half your money in one year, but are consoled about that 20% divided? And -72% since inception? I'm a player in these new Yeild Max things, but still in watching mode. Not something I would recommend to a first time divided player.

Hey kid, consider something like Altria. The stock has bounced back since they quit fumbling around in the vape market and figured it out. They are paying 7% dividend at the current price. One of the best bargains in the divided aristocrat category at the moment, if you ask me.

Edit for auto-incorrrrrrect.

Currently at 5.50 or so. I'm just saying if you want divvies, it pays to throw a little ULTY's way. Don't put the college fund there, but 100 bucks or so every week is nice.

No, they haven't. Both gave me a raise this year.

OP was looking for dividends, not stock appreciation.

20% off this year's high for ET.

O&G isn't a great investment right now.

If you want more risk in the dividend market (is that an oxymoron?), take a flier on IEP. I bought just before the shorts published their data, took a loss, sold out and watched it continue to tumble. I think the bad news may have washed it out, but it's hard to know where this is at because he owns so much of it himself. I decided to get back in recently hoping he can maintain the current reduced dividend, which is 20% now, and think the stock may rebound to about 16, leaving a more realistic 10% dividend in the long run. Still a bit of a guess at how he even maintains that divided he's paying now, so another cut may be on the horizon. I've only got a few % of my money there just to watch the show.

1.37% div yield currently, so no - not a good dividend stock.

$KHC is over 6%.
Everybody wants Kraft mayo and Heinz ketchup on their Oscar Meyer hot dogs.

Stock is at near 6 year lows.

They're going to split at some point. I presume shareholders will get shares in the new companies like GE holders did when it split a while back.

I imagine that will happen as well. Either way it seems to be a decent dividend payer.

I have ~65 shares.

$ULTY hit new low today of $5.23, but it just paid out the weekly divvy this morning. Got about ~1400 shares of it. definitely have to keep an eye on it.

As far as being a dividend stock, you can definitely do better than Chubb. Overall, I'd guess it's a market performer over time. Solid, but unspectacular (unless a big natural disaster occurs, in which case, WATCH OUT).

As far as ULTY, I am giving up on most my shares. I recently only bought YieldMax funds with an accompanying put position. My $6 puts expire tomorrow, and I will take today's dividend, and let most of my shares get called away. I think there are better dividend total return alternatives out there to be had, at lower risk.

My average for ULTY is in the low 6's. But since it has maintained the 9-10 cent distribution every week, dipping into the 5's hasn't bothered me.

I'm a bit under $5.75 /sh for ULTY, so pretty happy.

I was able to buy under 200 shares after hours for $5.21 a couple weeks ago, that REALLY helped.

Also liking some of the shipping stocks, $HAFN is one I like right now. $NAT has been good as well.

My advisor recommended taking a look at Williams Conpany (WMB) with a 3.2% yield. They have re-centred announced some energy deals to support power at AI data centers, which could be a new growth engine for them. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this one myself

It's time to get out of ULTY, just going down too much these days.
