Is anyone here smart on what will happen with Trump signing S.1582, allowing a US-approved StableCoin?

Super quick version? Could re-dollarize the globe instead of de-dollarize which has been the standard reprieve for the last few months.

Lots of stuff to figure out - depending how govt classifies going forward (method of payment vs security) will have an impact on adoption.

Biggest issue I'm interested to see play out is how it could subvert sovereign monetary systems not regulated by the US. Chinese citizens (ex local controls on internet/apps) could have direct access to convert assets to USD rather than local currency subject to capital controls.

Stablecoin will either be slightly accretive for USD or highly accretive for USD but I don't see a scenario where stablecoin failure is net negative for USD. Stablecoin growth necessarily means support for T-Bill demand which will continue to allow the US to finance the budget/trade deficits we tend to enjoy. Maybe that is only a bridge to re-industrialization or maybe it's just a mirage but either way...stablecoin adoption buys USD and our political structure more time in the face of significant debt.
