Going to miss the game due to work conflicts but thought I'd start a thread in case anyone can post updates I can peek ar during my meetings.
It is kinda fun, which is why I try to take an extra long lunch and go when I can.Gap said:
I've never been to an elementary school day game before. I love it. The noise level from the kids is awesome. The players have to enjoy it.
It highlights how rebounding is about positioning more than size, which is especially noticeable when you notice how many rebounds in the women's game hit the floor before they're snagged. But size still matters. One thing that struck me about the FSU loss is that Cheah was still hustling for the same kinds of loose balls she usually does. But the Noles had players who were both bigger and athletic enough to get to a lot of balls she normally gets.aggieFann said:
It still amazes me how an undersized 4-player (Rael-Whitsitt) is averaging more rebounds than anyone on the team. I love her energy. I also agree with Coach Blair that we need to play faster. It takes us forever sometimes to get into these "sets".
I think Anriel was kind of an exception. She was able to use her triple-jump level leaping ability to get a lot of rebounds in the air even when her position was suboptimal. She was very hard to box out and she would fly in over the opponent and somehow not foul.aggieFann said:
Those are really good points Bio. I agree that positioning has a lot to do with it outside of size which could explain how Howard was able to get so many boards when she played for us.
