Hurts our team as USC has alrady beaten them, and we would have likely picked up a road win too..Guess the SEC crown will be determined on a percentage if uneven number of games are played.

I'm glad the leaders and members of our program and athletic department love their program and playing the game so much as to make the sacrifices necessary to play the games.

Seems like an understandable decision based on this article.

Wish Vanderbilt would leave the SEC. They bring almost nothing to our league. All they do is take and rarely add anything. We should trade them to the ACC for Clemson.

They usually have really good baseball teams, plus they're a member of the AAU which enhances the academic image of the conference. I think they contribute plenty, but maybe I have different ideas of what a contribution consists of .

Vanderbilt is in the middle of Nashville where the virus is just now hitting its peak. Given the season is less than two months from finishing for them, I guess they feel there is no use to just keep pushing on.

The main reason private schools are in any big conference is for that conference to have some shielding of their records, particularly their financial records, from being totally made public. Every big conference has at least one school like that: Vanderbilt for the SEC, Northwestern in the Big X, Boston College for the ACC, Baylor and TCU for the Big whatever, and USC for the Pac XII.

It's very intentional for those conferences. Given how much money is being processed by all those conferences, it's likely a really bad idea. However, it would take a federal law change to make conference records totally transparent, and that's likely not to happen anytime soon.

If 13 out of 14 teams records are public, having 1/14 of the records being private, I don't see how this is really shielding anything.

Universities that accept state or federal tax dollars cannot shield their finances...that is a right reserved only for the private schools.

Curious - the schedule shows "no contest" against Vanderbilt. Does that count as a win considering the teams that had the benefit of playing them already this season will have a one game edge at the end of SEC play?
