This has to be our highest in-season rankings to my knowledge.

In the CBS power ranking we are #1

https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/womens-college-basketball-power-rankings-texas-a-m-is-new-no-1-edging-out-no-2-uconn/

1. Texas A&M (19-1)

Texas A&M has slowly, methodically, and quietly had one of the best seasons in the country. Gary Blair's team has played extremely well and Aaliyah Wilson has proven that she can really lead a team. The Aggies have terrific guard play, led by Wilson, as well as strong inside play led by N'dea Jones. Their only loss came on the road at LSU, but they have put together a seven game winning streak since that defeat. The Aggies boast six wins over teams currently ranked in the top 25 (Kentucky, DePaul, Tennessee, Arkansas twice, and Georgia), while also holding wins over Mississippi State and Texas, teams that were ranked in the top-25 at the time. When comparing Texas A&M with UConn I looked at the number of top-25 wins and the common opponent factor (Arkansas), which both favored the Aggies. They finish their SEC regular season schedule over the next two weeks, ending with a huge game against South Carolina. They may not end up being the best team in the country, but right now is deserving of the No. 1 ranking in the country. Previous: 4

Quite frankly I am surprised that both South Carolina and Louisville would drop as much as they did.
Happy for the Aggies and want them to continue to stay focused while playing with a little more sense of urgency.

I'm not answering the poll on the TexAgs home page about the basketball seeding for the Aggies for fear of jinxing them LOL

Right and I'm watching the Stanford vs Arizona game hoping that Arizona wins since Stanford is right under us.
I hope the coaches show our Alabama game at the end of last season for extra motivation this Thursday.

We have had perennial posts across the TexAgs forums on the value of fixing ranking by winning. This is a textbook example.

I am so excited for our team and coaching staff.

" Louisville faltered on Sunday, falling to unranked Florida State, and Texas A&M -- which is 8-0 against teams in the NET top-50 rankings -- replaces the Cardinals on the top line. The SEC now has two No. 1 seeds and the pair will clash Sunday (ESPN2/ESPN App, 2 p.m. ET) when South Carolina visits College Station. The game will decide the SEC crown, but will likely not cost either a No. 1 seed. Jackson State, Oregon State and Utah Valley are new to the field this week, while DePaul (No. 7 to No. 8 seed) and Mississippi State (No. 8 to No. 7 seed) were moved a seed line to accommodate bracketing procedures."

Congrats to the team and Blair. I have to admit it but I did not think Blair could do it but he did . I eat crow this year and glad to do so. It would be nice to finish it off. Hope the team keeps their eye on the target.

Looking forward to the game tomorrow vs Alabama. Should be a good one. Hope we pull off the win and are able to play a complete game on Sunday vs South Carolina. I've watched SC a few times this season. They play a lot like we do. Dominating inside presence, but seem to miss lots and lots of layups and make poor decisions when the games get tight. Their point guard blazes down the court before her offense is set up and then she has to wait for the offense to set up. That might be designed...IDK. They block out very well and out rebound almost every body. I think Ciera and N'Dea will have to catch and shoot; don't put the ball on the ground, bc just like us, their guards will slap the ball away.

It will be interesting to see the matchup. We desperately need production inside the next few games from Ciera and N'Dea and most importantly to limit turnovers.

This is exciting! Just pray we continue that upward trajectory and finish the SEC strong so we have confidence heading into the tournaments.

I agree with everything you said especially about the inside presence. I'm still waiting on a game where everyone is clicking on all cylinders. I expect Alabama to play a zone defense for majority of the game so we'll see how we deal with that. We're in a really good position to make history.

Good summary. When watching the SC vs UConn game, it seemed like SC made some mental mistakes down the end. I think we have the advantage on that in a close game in Q4.

I have never been more of a 'take one game at time time' as I have been this year. Let's BTHO bama and then worry about SC on Friday. AAAAAAAAAA!
