...looks like we're in for a lower scoring game; slower paced; methodical chess match. Thoughts?

Arizona shot 34% from the free throw line?

Arizona is a defensive oriented team. They rely on pressuring the ball and everyone guarding their man. They also rely a lot on transition points and points from their star guard Aari who will probably give our guards fits if we are too loose with the ball. However, they are not that good of a three point shooting team. It should be an interesting matchup.

this has been our Achilles heel all season long. we need to work the ball and drive. stagnant shots don't work for this team. it has to be something shot in rhythm driving towards the basket. tbh - i loved that little double post move we used 3-4 times at the beginning of the first half. worked every time until they changed they way they guarded it.

the first two games we played of the tournament have worn me out just watching them. both games felt like a track meet.

I wonder if Gary would start the game more aggressive defensively by a press and trap game if that would in turn jump start the offense. He is always says good defense leads to offense maybe give it a try. I too looked the look that he ran with Jones and Johnson play double low post, it really seemed to work well.

with short rest and with the effort we exerted yesterday I don't see him wanting to wear out the starters that quickly.

I think this is just a better match up than playing a 3 pt shooting team. We struggled all year against that

ESPN on their NCAAW page predicts the Sweet 16 games and on their 6 person panel 2 picked us to win.

Well, to be fair, all the other #1 and 2 seeds have had relatively easy games vs our 2 near death experiences.

So, can't blame them for doubting. Hopefully we will ride that doubt all the way to the championship.

I like those 2. The other 4 can bite me. LOL

Texas A&M and Louisville have both been challenged the first 2 rounds. NCState hasn't exactly blown their first 2 opponents away. Three of the1 seeds and the other 2 seeds have had an easier time. Arizona struggled against 11 seed BYU and only scored 52 points while holding BYU to 46.

We all know the NCAA tournament is about match ups. Look for Iowa to play UConn close and we may see a few unexpected upsets. For some reason I feel better about our match up vs Arizona than I did going into the Iowa State game.

Blair and Nixon both mentioned their Aari McDonald a senior from Fresno. She's .397 on overall FG and .296 behind the arc, .790 FT rate, and 19.3 average points per game. As their best scorer and a senior, it highlights how important their defense-first game planning is. As a team their NET is 15th overall as of March 24. Their team scores 66.5 per game so she is roughly 1/3rd of their scoring. Their game will be to stop transition and force us into our half court offense and take deliberate shots when they're on offense but not perfect shots.

We want her beyond the arc and need to keep her hassled.
