Just curious, can the seniors come back next season due to a covid year?

Gary seemed to be referring to that in his press conference when he said he'd be glad to have anyone on the team back next year. Then, he subsequently referred to three newcomers who have agreed to play here.

He also spoke of the five players who were in graduate school this year and the four freshmen who have sat patiently waiting for playing time.

As I understand the COVID waiver, nobody expends a year of eligibility this year but the school still decides who will be invited back. Scholarship limits (15 for WBB) still apply.

Hopefully there will be spots available for any senior who wants tor return.

Does anybody else have more definitive information?

Senior scholarships don't count against the limit of 15 due to this being a free year for everyone. The 6 seniors could come back or transfer elsewhere for their final season.

It would be fun to see this squad run it back next season, but I wonder what would happen to the younger players who are fighting for playing time.

No matter who comes back a coach is obligated to field the best team.

probably depends how much longer to finish degree or master's degree
and want the Texas A&M scholly to continue to pay for it.

I don't see any WNBA players . Maybe some overseas possibilities.
Those finishing master's degrees may have some good job opportunities through the Aggie Network
and if finishing their degree soon, ready to move on.

no inside info...just my feeling

Jones is a possible WNBA player. Likely a round two selection. She would have to be a one dimensional player who crafts her game to that one facet.

I e Rodman
But most all the seniors had already graduated so it is a matter of wanting to finish out the masters degree and play together another year.

This will be interesting to see. Mainly because I'm sure you may lose a few undergrads who assumed they would get playing time after this season.

I'm curious, do we have an elite 5 on the roster or one that could possibly be coming in? One that is shot blocker but also a solid scoring threat? Who replaces N'Dea at the 4? As of now, what does our roster look like assuming the graduates do not return? Does Pitts have another year?

We dont have anyone on the roster or coming in that currently is thought of as elite at the 4 and 5 positions. Now that does not mean one or more might not develop to be really good, but right now appears to be the weakness for next year.

We still have quite a few perimeter type players although most are pretty short. Of course we just saw a 5'6" guard score 31 points on us and steal us blind.

I guess Pitts gets another year if she wants it.

According to the website
Players who wish to enter the draft must renounce college eligibility and notify the WNBA offices by email no later than April 1. Players involved in the 2021 Final Four have 48 hours after the completion of their final game, instead of the normal 24, to notify the league of their intent to enter the draft.

So we will know by Thursday if any of our players are coming back or declaring.

Thank you! I stand corrected.

Wow this is good info. Had no idea.

I'm assuming Ciera, Kayla, and Aailyah are done. Hoping Pitts decides to stay another year since her playing time was a bit limited. Maybe she feels she has more to give.

Zaay Green looked a bit disgruntled on the sidelines vs Arizona. Not sure if she is upset about playing time or her leg/knee was bothering her that much. Any insight into this?

Who is coming in to fill the holes / gaps?

being that Ciera, Aaliyah & Anna were transfers - they are probably gone for sure. N'dea has announced she's going to the WNBA draft. That leaves Kayla & Destiny - I'm hoping Destiny stays for another year. I have no clue what Kayla's plans are (I did get to talk to her a bit on Sunday - we put our sad faces on)

Good stuff; thanks for the info. Kayla has been a warrior. After 4 years of collegiate sports, it's hard to commit to another year (I know this from personal experience). Congrats to N'Dea; will really miss her on the court. Wilson was a star this year; she will definitely be missed. Ciera's defense in the post and ability to screen are some of the reasons this team advanced as far as they did. All will be missed if they decide to move on. I'm looking forward to what the new team will look like and hope the team chemistry is solid moving forward.
