I hope we will see more of Sahara as the season goes on. She has such great length and athleticism. I love the defensive intensity she plays with. She's so active and can make things happen. I just see so much potential in her!

I agree!! She seems to be an athlete that thrives when trusted and given time to flow into the game. She could be THE difference maker this year.

I'm going to say something controversial and many may disagree, BUT, oh well, it's just my opinion. Destiny Pitts should not be a starter. She's an incredible 6th man and deserves a lot of playing time, but we need her legs and shots in the 4th quarter and I just think there are other guards that get the ball up the floor better when they are needed. ((Hoppie, Green)).

I don't necessarily disagree with you about Pitts. I can see advantages to her starting as well as coming off the bench. It doesn't seem that GB has settled on his starting 5, yet. I know there are a lot of new pieces to the puzzle this year and that takes time to sort out. I was a bit perplexed that it took so long to get Hoppie into the game on Sunday. She's another high motor player like Sahara who can come in and make a difference. I think her quickness was needed against the tu guards. I was glad to see Green come in and get a couple of buckets. She has the talent, but needs to play with confidence all the time. I'm hoping Roby found herself in the 2nd half on Sunday. Was at the game, but went back and watched some of it when I got home. Roby was like a totally different player from start to finish of the game. We've got lots of areas for improvement and I see that as a good thing! I know there has been lots of film watching and hard work in practice this week to correct some things. We've got smart players who work hard, and great coaches. I'm excited to see how this team continues to develop as we progress through the season. The talent is there. We've just got to put it all together.

I agree with much of what has been posted here. Jones needs more time as does Hoppi, but definitely need to see Hoppie's offense pick up - she misses a lot of open shots. Green needs to channel her energy, sometimes she just gets going to fast when she is bringing the ball up. Roby
was definitely a different player as the game went on and this team needs that power and energy from her from the start of the game. I too am excited to see how this team does as the season goes on.

Agree with all you've said!

Roby did this against the last team we played, too. Wasn't great in the first half but was really good in the second. Good to know she's coachable and learns our opponents weaknesses as the game goes on. Do we only have her for this year?

I think we need Patty to step up, too. She's a little soft and needs to score on the backside more.

Growth - how much can this team grow?

Lastly, I love Hoppi, but I do agree with you. Offensively she's been stagnant. However, she is more calm and controlled bringing the ball up the court. I think she and Pitts are fighting for that 2-3 guard starting spot.

I was impressed with Roby and Jones last Sunday.

Jones doesn't have a shot from outside. She has the athleticism to play the 3 or 4 for good minutes but I think with her she has to be put with the correct personnel to really play at her best

Q has the game but needs to find her own identity on this team. Like last years Morris she can do it. Morris had no problem getting shots off with her minutes but didn't do well team defense wise. Great individually. I think Q really can thrive with a Pitts on bench and I think Jones can thrive when Pitts is in the game.

Let's trade a 14 point for 0 - makes sense!

It's a team sport. And Blair's teams always get better as the season progresses. I try hard not to focus on specific players except to celebrate key contributions in early games. I want to see Patty and Roby and Perry in high-low post situations to see if we can improve high screens and spread the defense more. Also need to see one of them emerge as go to big. Roby and Perry have had some great plays strung together.

You probably are missing the story if you don't note Nixon, Wells, and Pitts providing the backbone. I really appreciate Blair extending the use of a longer rotation to get minutes and touches especially early spread out to get confidence built and the the whole team gelled especially with all the transfers.

But I do expect in conference to see the rotation shorten. It's what Gary do!!

I'm pretty certain everyone knows who the backbone of the team is. All very good points made. I'm hoping we come out focused from the very beginning tonight and see some good minutes played. It would be great to see a solid, clean game especially with Gary set to break Shelby Metcalf's win record. Gig Em and BTHO tsu!!

I actually don't know what everyone does and does not know. I just think the perspective needs to include the whole team since I believe they do win and lose as a team.

I do like hearing folks point out breakout performances. But I've also heard coaches give PT to those that practice like it's game time. I believe that is a sane approach unless you just roll the ball out so to speak!!!

Hoppi is much better defensively than Pitts, so pick your poison.

This is good stuff. Agree. Focus should be on the team and not individual players. I'll be more mindful of this bc you are right.
