Is it a joke that we weren't included in the 2023 bracketology? Not even as a last 4 in. What. In. The. World?

We were AWFUL last year

I understand that but it seems like we are pretty loaded with talent.

We were awful last year and lost Wells, Pitts, Hoppie, and Nixon from that team.

We added 4 new players to the roster - 3 freshman and a sophomore transfer who played in eight games and averaged 2.0 points and 6.3 minutes per game.

This is a rebuild job. We have some nice building blocks, but if we make the NCAA tourney this year, it will be a fantastic surprise.

Just trying to be realistic given the above.

For a team that didn't make the field last year to lose its four leading scorers, we shouldn't have expected to be there. That being said we have 13 games against teams projected to make the field(SC, Tenn, LSU x2, Arkansas, UGA, Kansas, Duke, Bama, UF x2, Ole Miss, Mizzou) and 3 games against UK and 2x MSU who are in the first four out. That's 15 games against the projected top 70ish teams, 8 against the top 32. (SC, Tenn, LSU 2x, Arkansas, UGA, Kansas, Duke). So we'll have ample opportunity to nab a few Quad 1 wins without being a 20 win team. The projection that we would be in the bottom 3 of the SEC is one I can't endorse with the young talent mixed in with an experienced frontcourt. I like to think our top 7-8 could be really though, but depth is of course an issue with the gauntlet that is the SEC schedule, having to chase Arkansas around in Fayetteville at the end of February sounds brutal.

I don't know about loaded. We have some talent, but South Carolina is loaded, Tennessee is loaded, LSU is loaded. One MCDAA does not a loaded roster make. Everyone else listed has at least two, and a slew of 5 star backups, so I'm not sure where you're getting "loaded" from. The experience of McKinzie Green, Roby and Patty should pay dividends during the meat of the season when the lull can set in, but as far as raw TALENT is concerned, we're very much leaning on young/inexperienced players, with little to no continuity to fall back on.

Did I mention we'll only have 11 active players this season, 3 of which haven't played a minute of live college basketball.......

With 12 on our roster, that means someone is out. I believe that is MJ Johnson as I've seen her on crutches at women's soccer games.

You would be correct.

I firmly believe our team tanked last season for some reason. They just quit about 10 games in. Losing all of the players above really is of no significance considering how last season went. I guess we will see how the team grows from the beginning to the end, but we do have talent on this team. How well they adapt to the new coaches style will determine how far we go next season. I will be disappointed if we don't make the tournament.

We weren't awful. We are in a good league. The team did feel dragged down as things didn't go the way they were used to. Whether they gave up or not isn't actionable nor meaningful.

We have every reason to believe the team we have will compete. When teams do that the result can be surprising. It's like Christmas. Can't wait to see what's in the cool maroon and white wrapping under the tree!!!

Saying the loss of the #8 leading scorer in the sec last season is "inconsequential" doesn't really make sense to me no matter how the team underperformed. To another point the team did seem to kind of lay down at a certain point but you don't lose 47 PPG, bring in talented but UNPROVEN commodities and be EXPECTED to make the tourney. There's nothing anybody on this team has done in a college jersey that should make the writers think we won't be on the bottom 3, that's why we play the games. I personally have us finishing 17-11 7th in the SEC and making the tournament as a 10/11 seed. The weak perception of the team is nothing but motivation and will allow the team to stay under the radar. I'm more so excited for the team to blow these expectations out of the water than anything else.

I and some of my daughters attended the 2022 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament in Nashville. We didn't even get to see A&M play as they lost their first game, when we were still traveling there. We saw all the other games. It's no surprise we are not ranked highly.

By the way, I highly recommend attending the tournament. It was my third, which I got started on because of hearing about it on this board.
