We are playing in a tournament in Vegas in a few weeks. And Dayton, one of our opponents, has dropped out. Dayton is 0-7 and has apparently decided to take a 18 day break instead of playing their full schedule.

I'm curious if we will add Dayton's other opponent in Jacksonville St.

The other game we have in Vegas is Purdue and they are really good. Hopefully, we pick up another game.

A little background on what happened in Las Vegas at the tournament around Thanksgiving this year that included schools like Indiana, Auburn, and Texas Tech.

Women's college basketball took 'a couple steps backward' after a high-profile Thanksgiving tournament went absolutely awry
Nov 29, 2022

The two-day Thanksgiving weekend tournament featured nine Division I teams including the undefeated top-10 Indiana Hoosiers competing on the Las Vegas Strip at The Mirage hotel. But instead of playing under the bright lights of Sin City in the setup they were promised, teams arrived to find a shoddy court situated in the corner of a ballroom.

From the chandeliers hanging from the beveled ceiling to the multicolored carpet surrounding the hardwood, the lackluster accommodations were plain to see for any fans that paid to watch the FloHoops broadcasts of the games. And perhaps most disappointingly for those participating in the event, the tournament layout was not remotely conducive to hosting fans; the limited spectators welcomed into the facilities were expected to find the court without any signage and, once they arrived, were seated on folding chairs instead of bleachers.

"This is not what was described to us a far as what the venue was going to look like, what the setup was going to look like," Indiana head coach Teri Moren told ESPN. "What was disappointing was the aesthetics; it's not a fan-friendly environment."

Isn't the December tourney put on by a different group and played in a different location?

new location yes....has anyone inspected and checked all accommdation no.........Joni told us today Las Vegas is cancelled. The staff are looking for pickup games to play because the girls really need the work......

It is totally unacceptable that it takes 45 minutes to get medical help........forget all the other problems.

Thanks for the information. I was asking because I have family that were planning on going to this tourney and I don't think they are aware of it being cancelled.

That is what we were waiting on.

The Texas A&M women's basketball team will no longer be participating in the originally scheduled Las Vegas Invitational and will instead face off against Purdue on Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. inside Reed Arena.

The Las Vegas Invitational was slated for Dec. 20-21 and the Aggies were set to play Dayton and Purdue during their stay. However, all three squads have elected to not participate in the tournament.
