Can anyone shed some light on cost of water wells in South College station. I am looking at some property off of Wellbourn, a couple miles west of Millican.

How is the water quality in this area and what is typical cost to drill & install pump?

Should be able to answer those questions fairly easily.

Had this conversation with a buddy at the Aggie basketball game today. Most of the quotes he's getting are around $20k. Another buddy got a $36k quote for one in Caldwell. So…not cheap.

Several years ago I spoke with Brien Wells near Hearne and they said the water quality in your/my part of the county was so poor they discouraged me from spending my money. One guy used his new well to irrigate trees and killed them all plus they couldn't drink it. Check it out before you spend that kind of jack.

I already have a call into Siegert, they gave me a rough price on driling cost per foot but also mentioned Brazos valley can be hit or miss on well quality and more than likely some type of treatment would be required for domestic use. I pulled all the domestic water well records in the TX water grids south of College Station and around Millican. Average depth is around 300-500ft based on the records I found.

Does anyone know where Millican Reserve is getting their water from? Is it individual wells or city water supply? The property I am looking at is not too far from there.

The issue with running unfiltered/untreated well water in a house is over time the minerals usually wreak havoc on the plumbing fixtures and finish as well as effecting the taste and smell. If you want it done Right then you can't go wrong with Siegert water wells.

Property would initially be built out with a barndo and would be more a weekend/recreation property. The more I am researching this the more I am leaning towards rainwater collection system initially vs drilling a well.

Unless you are doing heavy irrigation, for just residential use you can probably get a wellborn water meter placed versus a well that has a minimum 15 year break even versus paying for water. Call them tomorrow and see if there is a service line near the property and how much a meter tap is currently.

As far as water well contractors I, too, recommend Siegert. I am currently on his schedule for a couple water wells around the area.
