Been hearing radio ads for a service to protect against this. Is it really actually even a thing?

Don't we pay fees and have a whole industry of title companies to prevent this?

Sounds so fishy to me.

I think its basically "identity theft" which large corporations/banks have probably spent billions on to make sure that the general feeling people get when they hear about it is that "someone stole your identity from you" rather than "someone stole from me because I was too stupid to know they were not you"

To be clear, this isn't something I am actually concerned about. Just wondered if it actually even possible and an actual problem. Or just fear mongering to get people to pay protection money. Since it seems significantly different from stealing someone ssn and dln.

Expanded coverage owner title policy would theoretically protect you from any sort of post policy deed fraud. The title notification services are little more than monitoring. As far as I'm aware they do not offer any monetary support or legal fees to correct an issue should one pop up.
