Which we have no interest in selling, have done nothing to indicate that we are even looking at selling.

Anyone know why this would suddenly start being a problem? In the last month both my wife an I are getting multiple calls daily. Must be a scam I don't understand, since with the market change there are multiple properties in the neighborhood for sale.

Also irritating that these people are so easily connecting our cell phone numbers with the address. Is there a way to make that information harder to get to random people online?

They call 100 people with a grossly under priced bid and are promptly told to **** off by 99 a day.

But it only takes one idiot to listen

Someone sold your info. Have you signed up or renewed something lately?

I get lots of texts. I usually tell them a stupid number Is what it will take and then every time they respond I just respond back with a number $50,000 higher than the last. I have made it over 1,000,000 till they get the idea.

Also had one offer around $475,000 after some coaxing for an offer. Told him I had sold the house a few months prior for $150,000 over that, which is true. He proceeded to explain that his offer is fair and in line with market conditions. Ok pal, talk to the new owners then.

I just ignore the texts. I don't answer calls if I don't know the number. If it's important they'll leave a message.

It's really no big deal. Reply with an absurdly high number. They'll leave you alone for a while.
Let's go, Brandon!

I get texts for my parents' property. I thought about messing with them once and accepting their offer, given I have no legal basis to do so, but just let it go.

I assume that they are dialing in hopes of getting someone on the hook that is willing to sign a contract with a long option period for very little money and the ability to assign the contract. Chasing a fee to transfer the contract to the buyer.

My address was listed as a potential foreclosure one time. Complete error with no basis in fact. It was a complete mess because the website portrayed it as about 75% equity. It would be the foreclosure buyer dream of a lifetime. I had people knocking on the door trying to buy it for 50% of the value to save me from foreclosure. Took 6 months to get it resolved and had to post a sign at the front door to keep people off the property.

I know its not a huge deal. I have always gotten them occasionally. Just been a noticeable spike lately. I also realize that our information is constantly being gathered and sold.

Unfortunately, I have to answer my phone on unknown numbers due to business

I usually start with an absurdly high number, then raise it $50K when they say they have to talk to their manager, then $50K more when they question it, then $50K more and so on til they hang up.

I get calls for a house I heve never owned. I started telling them the owner just died a couple of days prior. It's really sad how many people, even when presented with that information are still aggressive with their push and in some cases get mean and nasty.

On texts I always give them a number I'd take for my house. A ridiculously high one. Then when they don't respond, I ask them when they will be sending the contract over. Again, after no response, I text again with fake frustration that I still haven't received the contract from them. Somehow it makes me laugh.
