Anyone have any insight to this program? Looking to get my real estate license this year and was also looking into this program. Long term goal would be buying, selling, developing and / or working for a developer.

Currently been in commercial construction for 15+ years. Wanting to gain more knowledge as I venture into this on my own from the development side.

what is the cost and how long does it take?

seems like a lot of the courses were part of the core/elective options for my MBA program.

If finance is a part of your job at all, it might be worth the extra time and cost to just get a full blown MBA and do a real estate track (or look at the A&M MRE program)

My main worry would be how much value this degree would have as it's pretty niche and I'm not sure how many employers would care about it.

If you are worried more about the skillset, a lot of those classes can be found online.

What would your hesitation be in trying to go work for a developer? You have the construction experience to be a good fit for an outfit that is looking to hire. Just not sure throwing money at higher education and losing time (greatest asset) would tip the scales favorably enough as opposed to getting experience and also getting paid to get that experience.

It's a 2 year program. About $30k. Plan is to start my own deal and not work for anyone in about 2 years time. Would want to have enough knowledge to handle my own transactions and know when it's time to outsource to someone with more advanced experience with the complex transactions to protect myself and / or identify when to walk away based on the red tape involved.

Starting to get my real estate license this month. Will start there. I by no means want to pay for excess education. Was wanting some inside info as to what advantage in learning the MLS would provide over a real estate license and other self-learning programs on the inter web.

What does MLS stand for in this context?

FWIW, I did the MRE program. (LERE at the time)

Courses can't replicate real life deal experience, nor teach you how to evaluate and measure risk. At the risk of oversimplification, being above average at those two things is the difference between broke developers and successful ones, and neither are taught in a class.

In my opinion, the best thing you can do is bring a marketable skill to a development company where they need help, ie construction, and is willing to teach you development while you bring value to them where you're already a professional.
