I really liked ed fryday with space city inspections i believe it is. Really good dude amd knows EVERYTHING but not sure if he goes to Woodlands. I've also had Halston Welch with Atex Inspects inspect several homes for me and he is also really good. He has inspected for me as far as orange, so I'm pretty sure he goes to the Woodlands.

I knew Ed years ago from being involved in the bluegrass music scene in and around Houston. I had no idea he did this and thought he and his family operated a dry cleaner. He is as good as they come and I would get him if he comes to the Woodlands.

Not only does he do it, i believe he trains other inspectors and teaches classes on different aspects of inspections. Its been several years since I have used him because he has been booked every time I've needed an inspection since we used him.

Blake at Big24Team does a great job

If you're in a town east of SA, James at Barrie Inspections is great, too.

Is it possible to get an inspector at various stages of the home building process??

We built through Perry and have had several issues with our home (namely distribution of the air conditioning, terrible sloping in our backyard, and subpar tile work). Getting the warranty department to do any kid of appropriate work was troublesome at times. We are now moving to the woodlands and are building another home. They broke ground last week and was wondering if it would be worth it to hire an inspector at various stages of the construction process? Or is that not recommended and the inspection at the end is sufficient?

It is!

This is called a "phase inspection." An inspector will typically come out before drywall goes up to inspect the framing, and electrical/plumbing lines. They can also catch other areas of concern that are hidden behind walls.

The inspector will come out again at the end of the build, before closing, to perform an overall inspection. The inspection report is handed over to the builder, and they are required, by law, to fix issues.

Definitely recommend, if you can catch a home in the early stages/prior to being started!

Echoing what red pear said. Saved us a lot of grief a few years ago with our first home. Definitely recommend.

Thank y'all! It does not look like Ed and Space City Inspections service the Woodlands. They seem to stick to the Galveston and SE Houston. I am looking into the Welch family at Atex Inspects. Any other recommendations I should look into?

I've also used Halston Welch with ATEX Inspects more so than any other inspector. Good product at a great price.

And if you're moving to Houston, I'd love to help you. We split commissions with our clients and do our damnedest to outperform average agents elsewhere.
