Anyone have any info on membership (initiation, dues, etc)?

I believe there is a waiting list at the moment unless you plan to sign up your company with a corporate membership.

Curious how conditions are right now? I may try to get a round in over the holidays. Do they overseed?

They over seeded the Oaks and it's back open for play. I had planned to go today through the weekend but changed plans due to possible weather. It's $279 if you're staying at the JW.

I have been a member at TPC San Antonio since 2017. My total membership cost was $32,475. That included a $5,000 club credit that you could use on meals, merchandise, hotel stay at the JW San Antonio. TPC was really looking for members at that time.

Current dues are $752 per month. The dues include carts. The great thing TPC does for members is that every day, with a few exceptions, one of the 2 courses is reserved for members only. The courses are rotated every other day. The Oaks course has been overseeded for at least a month and is still cart path only. I think beginning next week the cart path only is going away.

I've gone there all but one year since they opened, stayed 4 or 5 days and played both courses. I've hardly ever seen another cart of the course when out there. It's always been summer so it's hot but I've always wondered how much play it gets.

I'm a member as well. The Oaks course is gorgeous right now, but as mentioned it's CPO until Christmas. The greens are a little slow so they can baby that winter Rye and have it perfect for the Valero, but they are smooth as butter at any speed.

The Canyons is in really good shape as well. 2nd green too a beating this year, but it's slowly healing, but the rest of the greens are rolling really well. A couple weeks ago they were as fast as I had ever played them, but they have since slowed down a bit.

If you see tee times available, that's a good sign the course will be empty. It always feels like it's all or nothing out there. Its either packed or a ghost town.

The rotating member course and the crackdown on tournaments has made the membership worth every penny.

planning on being there between xmas and through new years...what's the cheapest way to play there?
jja79

I could be mistaken but you can either be a member or stay at the JW. There isn't a cheap way. When I called a couple of weeks ago to book some times it was $279 for hotel guests so the cost of a round when you factor in $300-400 for the room is steep.

play with a member and pay the guest fee

At Southwind they are really cutting down on our ability to have unaccompanied guests as some members were really taking it to the extremes.

$279 for hotel guest is ridiculous. $279 is ridiculous.

I didn't set the rate. I just told you fellas what they told me when I called. I will say this. I have stayed a week there all but one year since they opened and played at least 4 times each stay. I've very seldom seen another cart on either course so I guess the price keeps play down. Makes it nice though to have it all to yourself and get around in 2.5 hours.

$279 and I don't want to be done that fast! Hell, I might just take 5 hours to get a better dollar per minute rate.

You just go from Canyons 18 over to Oaks 1.

And I've never paid anywhere near $279 and I've played there probably 35 times. That's just what they told me 2 weeks ago when I called for tee times.

It is. When I was looking into it last year, they had a deal for military members where they could book an open tee time 24 hours or less beforehand. May be worth looking into.

Is it worth the $300 green fee?

You can get it cheaper with a golf package from the hotel. The hotel is easily top 5 in Texas. Sports bar is awesome and all the food/drinks on property is great

When I looked the packages were considerably more expensive than a room and green fee.

I too have taken advantage of this. It was couple of years ago and the price was sub-$100. Looks like it runs $115 now with non-military accompanied guests at $159+tax. Tee times are available anytime Monday Friday or after 12:00 pm on weekends with only one foursome per last name.

I'm curious as well only because my course is about to become a TPC course. We are excited about it. But curious what changes we should see.
