What are your thoughts on the YouTube group called, No Laying Up?

If you are not familiar they produce golf playing video content on You Tube and get to travel all around the country and world making a living playing golf.

My first question is the guy named Tron...or is he named Todd (they seem to change his name all the time) and is he right or left handed. Or is he right handed and just up and decided he wanted golf to be more challenging so he started playing left handed?

I've listened to some of their podcasts and found them to be entertaining. Particularly if they have a guest willing to cut up like Max Homa or Harry Higgs.

Haven't watched any of their videos or even tried to learn who's who so I can't comment on their golf playing.

Yes, he took up playing LH just to "rediscover" the love of the game and challenges it brings when starting out.

I used to enjoy a bunch of the older stuff they did several years back before they got in bed with major corporations. Content to me has been lacking the last few years. Not as original and spontaneous.

The best stuff they do are the Strapped Boys where the take golf trips on a tight budget and play a lot of local/muni type of courses. That's always a good watch

Avid listener/watcher of almost all of their content.

Good background read on their story here

Listen to and watch most of their content. You'll enjoy their stuff if you're an avid golfer and follow the tour. The tourist sauce series is some of the best golf content on YouTube IMO.

I used to love their podcasts until they turned into a weekly session to crap on the TV coverage.

Their video work is the best golf content out there. Tourist Sauce seasons and Strapped are excellent.

The special they did on Stanford women's golf maybe their best piece of content though.

That being said Tron is the worst. He thinks himself an expert on everything and his voice and schtick are annoying.

Seems like moving from Callaway to Titleist sponsorship is working out nice already for the boys

I think they put out the best Youtube playing content. They don't do the gimmicky(games) stuff that Good Good and the like put out. Their story telling and cinematography is the best out there as well.

Every group is gonna have the least favorite, Tron is that dude for me too. Also regarding his left-handed shenanigans I think he mentioned it gave him an avenue to play some golf with his son as well.

I like their "documentaries" (as mentioned the Stanford women's episode), Strapped is great, but my favorite is Tourist Sauce. I enjoyed watching the Bandon series leading up to playing it a few years ago.

I don't listen to their PGA gameday takes or podcast discussion stuff.

I'm a big fan of NLU.

Have a feeling though that those that like Barstool and Bob does sports are not going to be fans. They are definitely two different flavors for two different types of viewers.

I can watch both but BDS, Barstool, Good Good, etc seems to be extremely repetitive. To each their own though.

They're pretty good. I wish they would put out more YouTube content. It's kind of annoying watching good good make all this money when NLU has the better golfers, production and personalities.

I love their stuff. Watch most of their long form series and listen to most every podcast. Member of the Nest.

I'm a really big fan and occasionally play with other fans in the DFW area (shout out Big Plex Roost). I qualified for their Nest Invitational Tournament this past fall in Jax Beach and had a blast. I got to play with DJ and Big Randy. They were as advertised. Good dudes.

When Garrett and Micah were making videos that was enjoyable. I couldn't watch 2 minutes with Stephen and Matt. I did see an interesting video recently with the guy who owns Good Good. Didn't realize it was anything other than the cast of characters, changing though it is.

I tried to watch Good Good (found their videos before No Laying Up) and thought it came across as Bro Golf, which is not appealing to me and now will hardly to never watch their content.

Came across No Laying Up and really like their coverage and will watch every video they put out.

I was an avid NLU fan for a long time. Still have one of the first #toursauce shirts. IMO when DJ joined things started to go downhill for me. First it was the huge disclaimer in the video in one of the tourist sauce seasons when they played Trump Turnberry. Just going out of their way to make it clear that by playing the course they don't support Trump. Who cares? Then it was the incessant tv coverage takes every week on the podcast. Finally this past year, the LIV golf opinions completely consumed most of the podcast content. It became unlistenable for me. Unsubscribe.

Yes, I agree. I thought that Trump Course content disclaimer was strange. I don't listed to the podcast too much, but if Soly is the main podcaster I usually stay tuned in longer.

Interesting take.

I could do with more DJ and whole lot less of the Schuster brothers - mostly Tron, but sometimes Neil.

It also feels to me like DJ/Randy have taken a smaller role in the last year or so with both moving away from Jacksonville.

I think they only ones that live in Jacksonville now are Soly and Tron.

They were good in their come-up. I don't consume a ton of their content but they got pretty insufferable the last year. Overexposed and corporate controlled to a degree.

Not a fan of the barstool guys or the others too much either. Too many people playing characters these days.

Whether you like NLU or not, the video they just posted playing with Jordan and JT in Hawaii is a good watch.

I retook up golf 4 years ago from 10+ year hiatus and been following them since. I've consumed lots of untraditional golf media since. I find the pods and YouTube content very entertaining. Also, a Nest member here and really enjoyed playing in a couple Big Plex Roost events when I had the time. Good group.

This. I watched their stuff on Bandon, Pinehurst, Sand Valley, and St. Andrews. It was well done but the barstool guys especially Frankie and sometimes Riggs are tools. Can't watch them anymore.

Huge fan of Bob Does Sports and Rick Shiels. Haven't enjoyed Good Good as much since the line up changed, but I watch most of theirs as well. I also enjoy the Bryan Bros quite a bit. I need to check out NLU. Haven't made my way over there for whatever reason yet.

Guy on Rick's show has really improved at golf. Loved Rick's round at the Crail when the lady set the course record. Would love to play that course someday.

I think it was actually recommended to me by somebody on here, but if you're in the mood for good, old fashioned golf ****e talking, Subpar is a really good podcast. New episode has Tim "Lumpy" Heron and so far, it's pretty damn funny. A lot of behind-the-scenes stories that you typically won't here from buttoned-up golf coverage.

I've always been a big fan of No Laying Up since back in their early days (not to sound too much like Redstone...). Started following them when they all still had day jobs and were mainly just an entertaining twitter account. I've dropped off of listening to their podcasts (just out of habit), but the Strapped videos were always my favorites. It was great to see the real friendship of Neil and Big Randy as they travelled the countries and played normal golf courses. There is real joy in those videos.

As for Tron, Todd is his real name and I think he played lefty bc his young son is a lefty? Not 100% sure on that. Big Randy's real name is Phil.

BDS is always great content and Bob, Cuts, and FP are absolute characters. Glad they seemed to have gone away from the gimmicky beer a hole, and hot dog a hole, etc content. They're bringing on more quality golfers and professional golfers. Grant & MIcah's content to me has gone up since they left Good Good. They just put out an awesome video with our very own Sam Bennett. Sam has such a great demeanor on the course.

Good Good I think will head downhill, even with the Callaway partnership. Garrett and Luke Kwon are fun to watch but Bubbie, Matt, and especially Steven (dude always seems like he would be anywhere else besides the golf course) can be a beating. GM Golf is still putting out good content and I enjoy the breaking 65 series (even though I don't think he's got quite the course management to hit that #, but we will see). I would love to see Grant & Micah collab and create a combined channel but I think they'll continue to just grow their own channels and collab on each others going forward. Also seems they're about to be the face of Primo Golf Apparel. Their polos may not be for everyone, but if you've of an athletic build, they seem to look pretty solid. I just purchased a pair of their joggers, so looking forward to trying them out.

Another great channel that is growing is BustaJack golf (I think they're around 60k currently). It's a couple of guys that went to Okie State that live in Dallas. They're both scratch golfers and have pretty funny banter. They're just starting a series where they play a course in every state. Their first one was TPC Sawgrass. Bryan Bros is another great channel and Wesley Bryan was a pro at one time. He's a pretty decent trash talker.

Sorry, didn't mean to derail this thread. No Laying Up is still solid content as others on here have stated. Since I really don't watch many PGA tourneys anymore, I've become obsessed with Youtube golf content.

Didn't scroll past the original BDS post before I had to comment and went back and saw your post. Figured we'd be on the same page with all of these
