ok, can't speak to what shape it is in right now, but it reopened 1.5-2 years ago after a major green renovation. From what I heard, the greens had "survived" those last 5 years despite less than ideal conditions underground - something about thatch and improper drainage.
The key to this course, IMHO is that it is all tee shot. Placement is crucial some fairways are so tight. So tight that as part of the reno, they removed a TON of brush/trees along holes 4-7.
We play two tournaments a year there - the CenTex 2-man classic and the Central Texas Amateur. During events they get the greens firm and fast and there are pin positions that are treacherous. Some were so unfair I think they leveled those out a bit in the remodel.
It has always been in good shape for me and always reasonably priced.
Not knowing your skill level, you don't need to hit driver much. It's the one course from the tips that is 7000 yds plus and I rarely hit driver on it. Example I only hit driver on 3, 10, 11, 12, 16. YMMV.
two
Don't be tempted to go for 16 in two. It's tempting, but until you've played that hole enough to know exactly what to do, I would lay up to the 100 yd marker in the middle of the fairway and go from there. Also, the tree on t he right of 11 at the crest of the hill eats golf balls. Looks like its a simple carry, but for some reason its not.
the 18th hole is a really solid challenging par 4 from tee to green.
