How long do you want to ignore this user?
I payed 36 holes on Friday which is a first for me. I live in Cypress so it was the north course in the morning followed by the south course after lunch at BlackHorse. Replays were half off which was something I did not know. I may play 36 holes more now because of that. I will say they have a very good burger there at the grill.

Are there any members of BlackHorse on here? Thinking about joining up. I know it's not a private course but with it being two courses in good shape and the high green fees, it may be one of the better public options to join. I have thought of joining cypress lakes as well but the driving range is mostly sand.

Just wondering about the pros and cons of Balckhorse for those who know it well.

What's it running these days to join? I assume the downsides include long AF tee times, lots of tournaments etc

Its is $485 per month single and $575 family. Juniors 17 and under it is $275 per month. They also have just a range membership at $150 per month.

Actually playing there tomorrow with a couple buddies and one of them is 98% sure he is joining.

Edit: I think the app fee is $1,500 but not sure at the moment. Really don't know much else but meeting with the membership dude tomorrow.

The problem I have with "memberships" at places like Blackhorse is that you have to play about 52 times per year just to break even. I also live in Cypress and everyone I've known that has ever been a member there eventually quits with the biggest gripe being that the tournaments take over both courses for the better part of the nicest months of the year.

In my opinion, you join a club if you know you will play lots of golf, or to get access to member groups (men's golf games for instance) or premium facilities, which Blackhorse does not have.

ETA: Probably not a big issue, but I inquired several years ago and it was interesting that they only had a 7 day window for member tee times, but 14 day for non members. Didn't sit well with me.. guess they already have my money and they favored getting more from outsiders. Pretty much set the tone for what I felt i could expect as a "member".

Yes on paper I have looked at it and it looked pretty nice. The problem is having to go through a ton of red lights making it a 35-40 minute drive during non rush hour times. So it's out for me. Besides I'm lazy and need something much closer preferably.

Yea I would prefer they go all private to be honest. I was a member at Raveneaux for a brief amount of time and enjoyed it. I would like to join Champions but it's pretty steep to get in there. If my buddy joins Blackhorse, I can play with him at a discounted rate. However, I do plan to hit the range a lot also.
