The Aggie Women's Golf Team is leading the UH tournament by one shot at -25! Zoe Slaughter is leading individually at-14, with 2 rounds of 65.

Hope Coach Chadwell can keep up their spirits and bring home a title.

Interesting Cernousek is competing as an individual rather than a team score - wish we could take hers and ti would be a runaway

Congratulations to Coach Chadwell and the Aggie Women's Golf Team! They won the ICON Tournament at The Golf Club of Houston by 10 shots with a team total of -34, a new school record.

Junior Zoe Slaughter set a school record with an 18 under par total.

Do you know how they choose which tournaments to play in? A lot of the SEC schools are playing in the Darius Rucker Invitational and just curious why we're not.

No idea.

I did read that the men's teams have to be a lot more picky because of the .500 rule. If they go to too many loaded fields and can't finish over .500 for the year, they can't go to the post season tournaments.

Thats coming for the woman's teams soon. End result is there will be less tournaments with great fields and more that look like out of conference basketball scheduling. Sucks for us fans, but teams have to play the game.

Probably a dumb question, but how do you finish over .500 in golf? Obviously you're not winning more than half your tournaments so is it based on total number of teams you beat vs teams you finish behind? That seems like a really weird thing to calculate on a season long basis.

I don't think it has anything to do with winning. Just how you do compared to other D1 schools in the field.

In theory if a 5 team field is the following.

D1
D1
D2
D1
D1

You would have to finish first or second to be above .500. I think.

I'm not really sure. I have an idea how it works, I'll have to ask Coach Chadwell next time I see him,

Thanks. Be sure to tell him this random internet poster thinks he's doing a great job.

Think of the records as head to head within a tournament. So if your team finishes 2nd in a 10 team field, you went 9-1. Men's teams have to finish above .500 to qualify for postseason (if they don't win their conference tournament). Women are moving to that rule in a couple seasons. This leads to better teams playing in water-downed fields because they need the wins which isn't fair to the players but it is what it is.
