Bunk, it is inevitable that any further discussions relating to professional golf, will at some point include references to LIV.
My personal take is that right or wrong, Phil was basically correct in asserting the problems with the PGAT. Having said that, his approach was completely misguided. It's been said in many articles that there was no impetus for the tour to change the status quo, because there was no one to compete with them. It's my understanding that the tour was set up to be run by the players, for the players, and somewhere along the way, that changed. Now with the radical reactions by the tour to LIV, it appears that the rank and file are grumbling. Can the PGAT make everyone happy? Doubtful, but that's the way most of life is.
The argument for the smaller, no cut tournaments, is that it will keep all the best players on site for 4 days. While there might be some merit to that from a sponsor standpoint, as a fan, I wouldn't want to watch, say Rory, who's 5 over, and would have missed the cut, play on the weekend, and possibly slap it around some more. Just my take.
I guess I could go on and on about the discussions that have played out on the board on the other threads, but I'll sit back and enjoy the show that is The Golf Board!
