I am looking to get my dad set up for a first set of clubs. He is nearly 70 so I'm obviously thinking seniors shafts. He is very stiff as a person so im not expecting a lot of force being creatred.

He has never played a round in his life, maybe been to a driving range a handful of times when my brother and I were in HS.

Im not sure he even needs a full set honestly. Thought is my brother and I would get him set up for fathers day/birthday and then he can try taking a few lessons to get a basic understanding.

Tongue in cheek answer: He's already past retirement age. Let the man live in peace.

Real answer: I'd just hit some local pawn shops. Driver, few irons, putter. Senior flex. Wouldn't go crazy with the purchases yet.

I gave up a long time ago. He recently mentioned that he wanted to learn... I believe he knows I am trying to get back into it and my kids are just getting going so maybe he sees it as a good bonding opportunity.

I was considering game improvement irons with senior shafts. like a PW, 9, 7, 5 and a Driver

That's a good plan. Maybe a 4 or 5 hybrid instead of a 5 iron. Easier to get airborne.
