Anybody ever play at Garden Valley in Lindale? A tournament I am playing in in May had to change locations somewhat last minute, and of the limited options they had they ended up at Garden Valley. Never been there, so I'm wondering if anybody knows what kind of shape it might be in or if it's generally a good place to play a round? Thanks in advance.

I played there about 5-6 years ago, and I remember thinking that it was a lot of fun. Don't remember too much about the front nine, but I do remember the back nine was fun. Some of the back nine holes circle a lake.

Greens were fast back then. Hope that helps.

I have played numerous rounds there, with the most recent one about 3 years ago. A tournament I play in most years has used it as its regular course, but decided to go with a different course last year due to the poor condition of the greens. The course also recently sold the land its range was on to a developer to put in more homes, so there is no practice area to my knowledge. It is a good layout, and it is sad that they have not taken better care of it.

Used to be a treat to drive from Longview to Lindale to play. The guy that owns it also owns (or owned) Oak Forest in Longview and hasn't really taken care of either. It's a shame because it used to be a great track.

From what I've seen/heard recently, I wouldn't pay money to play there.

Thanks for the responses. That's disappointing to hear that it's gone downhill. This tournament is usually played at Tempest in Gladewater, but they wouldn't do it this year because they were opposed to us doing a shotgun start for some reason.

Last minute booking at Garden Valley looks like it may get interesting if what y'all say is accurate.

Oak Forest sold and is now called Crossing Creeks (playing there Friday). Don't know much about Garden Valley, but a buddy of mine says he really liked it the last time he played there (couple of years).

Sorry to hear its gone down hill. We used to go there and stay at the old house behind I think 12 green. We had some good times there.

Me and my Longview buddy used to call Oak Forest, "Ditch Golf."

Bummer about Garden Valley… cool piece of property.
