It is his right. A private matter and he earned it.

I guess what I'm wondering is how much these college kids get for their deals like this? Like what kinda money are we talking about ?

He's only a college kid for six more weeks.

I say he stays an Am through July 23rd, The Open Championship. .

Given the way the PGA Tour U works; I highly doubt he waits to turn pro. You're only guaranteed starts for
the rest of this season and he's got to earn enough money and PGA tour/KFT points to try and improve his status for next season

I disagree in that he is going to get some PGA tour starts this summer and will want to start working on getting his tour card either through earnings or fedex cup points in those starts a la Tom Kim, Rahm, etc. route.. If he stays an amateur, nothing counts and he will miss out on some key opportunities and will need to grind even more. Playing in the Open would be cool, but I have no doubt he will be in it eventually. Since he is automatically qualified for the US Open regardless of status, my bet is he turns pro.

I agree that he either turns after the A&M teams season is done or after The Open. I think the vast majority would go after the A&M season is done but this is the guy that came back for an extra year after already having a top 5 spot locked up in the PGA Tour University rankings. My gut says he waits but I could easily be wrong.
