I know this was a few weeks ago, but I enjoyed saying "Howdy" and "Gig Em" to the 4-5 Aggies I saw during the sunday round. If I remember right, most were Dallas area.

Hope all my golfing Ags make it to Augusta eventually.

I understand how incredible Augusta is, and that it's on everybody's bucket list. I hear how much different it is when you see it in person vs. on tv. I truly hope everyone who wants to go eventually gets a chance to go. I had a chance to go this year for all practice rounds and every day of the tournament, and I had to pass. I did get to pick up my friends that went for the whole week at the airport late Sunday night after the last round. They were EXHAUSTED and DELIRIOUS. They tried following their favorite player or players, and it was just too much. They were just constantly running from hole to hole, and then not being able to see the shots because of the crowd size. So, if you do get to go, I advise doing the seat thing, not the following thing. The Newtwork coverage is just incredible now, and offers much more golf viewing than being there watching in person. But I understand wanting the experience of being there. I am just that guy who enjoys everything "Masters" at home with my BBQ pitt fired up all weekend and a pot of B-1's pinto beans cooking while watching on the big screen. ....

Pretty sure there's an annual post dedicated to the best tips, thanks to Boo Radley? We heeded the advice when we went and had a stellar time on the Saturday day of play we went to see. Even with the massive delta cancellations and the 14 hour road trip, worth it!

This sounds more like they're just rookies at attending in-person golf tournaments. If you try to follow your favorite players on every hole and do that basically twice throughout the day for the early and late groups, you're going to walk a half-marathon over the course of the day (at any course). Not everyone is in shape to do that for multiple days in a row, especially on a course with that much elevation change when they're probably not drinking enough water. Mix in drinking and lack of sleep and of course they're exhausted. Very few people go for all seven days though.

On any tournament I go to, I typically find a group to follow for about 9 holes early in the morning, then switch and follow another group to follow for 9 holes or until I find a place with interesting/challenging shots to post-up on the ropes and watch all groups come through for the next few hours. At the PGA in Tulsa I did this and still walked 9-10 miles each day.

Someone has never been to a golf tournament if they're trying to follow one group only.

I went to the PGA at Bethpage in 2019….walked the entire course backwards. Saw ALOT of golf, but I didn't follow one group.

Was there on Friday. We ended up sitting on the front ropes for 12 and then walked around to watch tee shots on 13 and 11. Great event, not sure how you can follow and actually watch the shots as previously mentioned. If I had a 4 day pass I'd sit at 4 different hole areas each day.

There is so much truth in this. The topography is not really seen on TV. We went Sunday, so we had good cold and moist air until about 11am, then the sun came out full force and SCORCHED everyone. I live in the low country of South Carolina now, and man let me tell you I was gassed for about 1.5 days after. Why? 5$ beer over 2$ gatorade/soda- who wouldn't take that?? I was a zombie for about two days. physically draining, but so worth it.

I've been to a practice round one year, and a live round another. I "experienced" the awe and intricacies of the course on the practice round. The live round I enjoyed tremendously too, but didn't follow just one group of players. We just hopped from hole to hole (kinda random) and saw several groups here and there. It was fantastic.

I had plenty of beer too, but more than anything it was the peach ice cream sandwiches that got the better of me. Must've had like 10 in one day, and that's what exhausted me the next couple of days.

So you're the reason every concession stand I went in was out of the ice cream sandwiches.

The afternoon consisted of those peach ice cream sandwiches and beer for me. Sugar overload.
