I am playing there in about a month. Has anyone played this course? Jack Nicklaus course, his take on St Andrews

It is a nice course and a really fun track. The design is links…but it isn't anything like a links course except for the no trees. Ground is soft, greens are receptive and there is no hurricane winds….

I played Grand Cypress last October. I loved the course. It's hard to get into trouble, wide fairways and the rough is not too bad. Most of the greens are double greens. Make sure you are hitting to the proper flag. The double greens have a ridge in the middle that will move the ball away from the flag if you miss on the wrong side. These greens are huge so you shouldn't have a big issue hitting the proper side of ridge. The hole numbers for the double greens add up to 18.

The worst part of the experience for me was getting to the course and from the clubhouse to the first tee. There is a large renovation project around the course. A huge resort area is being built around the course. From the renderings posted in the clubhouse it will be very nice when complete. As I said it was late October early November when I played the construction work may not be as bad now but there was a lot of work left to do.

If you get a chance while you are in Orlando play Championsgate International course too. It was designed by Greg Norman. I wish I would have played the National course after playing international.
