There are six regions with 13 or 14 teams each. Five teams qualify from each region. Each regional tournament is 54 holes with the total stroke of the best four of the five team members being totaled each day. At the end of the three rounds, the five teams with the lowest total advance to nationals. All ties have to be broken.
At nationals, after three rounds conducted in an identical fashion to the regionals, the top eight teams are paired up for match play. Pairing depends on the order of the stroke play finish: 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5. The national champion is the winner of the match play.
