Perusing tee sheets down here visiting family… $105 for Silverhorn?! $130+tax for Canyon Springs?!

I paid $60 for Silverhorn AM rounds less than 2 years ago.

Hell it's not just SA, it's everywhere in major cities.

Cinco ranch, your run of the mill neighborhood public course in west Houston is $100 on the weekends.

I'd pay that over the $150+ that Blackhorse charges on weekends. But both rates are egregious.

Meadowbrook Farms is up to $125, which is unreal for that layout.

Where I live they complain about these rates.

At those prices, the greens, tee boxes, and carts had better be fricking perfect.

Pandemic increased turnout to golf by a large amount.

Played Olympia Hills for $60… now I know why. Greens are about 30% dirt. They may never get those things back. Bunkers were ground under repair.

Pace of play not so bad. Ok track with a few cool holes.

Golf in the Wichita area has to be some of the best value in the country. The membership rates are crazy. Auburn Hills has always impressed me with how nice it is for the price. I also really like Sand Creek Station up in Newton.

Totally lost the greens, fairways are rock hard. Played out there about a month ago and they need to close it for a couple of months to try to get it playable again.

Speaking of bad, my son and a friend of his played at battle lake in Mart. I'm not even sure how to describe the pictures he sent me but the sand traps were dirt.

Cheap golf (and housing) is one of the perks of this part of the country. You can golf good public courses for $30-50. Sand Creek is $40 incl cart which is amazing. If 4 1/2 to 5 hour rounds aren't your thing, you can be a member of Prairie Dunes for a little over $400/mo although it will kick your butt.

It sucks now, there's basically nothing worth the cost in Houston outside of Memorial Park or Gus Wortham. Everything is $100+ unless you want to play Cypresswood Cypress or one of the Pearland courses which aren't in good shape. Even Wildcat is $100+ which is laughable.

For reference, there is only 1 sand trap on the entire 18 holes. It is front right of the 14th hole just over the water. There were 2 more but they converted those to just grass now.

Battle Lake is wide open with not a lot of difficulty off the tee but that course currently has the best greens in the Waco area by a long shot. They're in really good condition and better than anywhere else currently

That's horrible news. It was one of my favorite courses to play when I was down there to see my parents. I loved the track.

Paid $90+ tax at the Bandit Saturday.....suspect this is why Club memberships are up. If you play much at all $600 - 700 spent is not uncommon. Downside of Club membership is you are stuck at one place.

$90 is worth it at the bandit as long as it's in good shape. We did a little guy's golf trip a few years back and stayed on the course. Fun track and at night you definitely feel out in the country.

Agreed - we have 4 kids and so far 3 play golf ... my 600 per month is a steal compared to playing munis.

I'm more shocked new drivers are over $500... and even more shocked idiots buy them even thought it's the same **** as last year's and year before..

Me buying a less-than-one-year-old Sim was so much cheaper than buying new, I was able to get the less-than-one-year-old 3W to match it, for the same prices as one new driver.

I don't get the appeal of brand new drivers. Maybe irons or wedges, but only because you're using them more and you get more sticks to dollars ratio-wise.
