My prediction of what the future of golf looks like:

Global golf. 1 major league (we'll call it PGA for ****s and giggles). Tour will take on a more global approach with tournaments year round in both america and overseas. With either spurts of team events or maybe they move team event play to later portion of the golf season. They'll add a couple more majors to the brand to generate interest. LIV will cease to exist. DP world tour and korn ferry tour will be the pga development leagues.

The people who are really hurt by this news are the new amateurs who just turned pro (ie sam bennett) and players who are not top 100 in the world. I feel awful for sam. This may be the worst time in history to just start off your pro career. Hopefully he can make strides quickly and get agead of the ****storm that is to come.

Why would this be the worst time for players like Sam? There will be more money injected into the professional ranks then ever.

Larger player pool, stiffer competition, less amount of spots available to get into tournaments

If Sam really is one of the best golfers then it's good for him...more competition is good

He doesnt have a tour card yet. He's playing off exemptions at the moment. Its going to be much harder to get one next year.

So... its going to go back to what it was 2+ years ago just with larger purses.

It's not like Korn Ferry, DP World, LIV, and non-designated PGA events are going away. All of those will most likely have a bump in payouts too.

Yes I understand

But if he's one of the best golfers then he will make it and make more money

If not...then he will need to work his way up like 95% of them do

Even if LIV and PGAT were still separate entities, he'd still be playing for a tour that was grasping at straws to compete with a smaller tour that didn't even have a major tv deal. PGAT (in its current form) was bought out or eventually LIV was going to run it into the ground because they had the money to do so. For a matter of perspective, PGA Tour is a $1.5 Billion business. PIF is a $650 Billion business running LIV.

PGAT and Monahan are spineless beings but I can't blame them for taking the money. Who wouldn't? The Chairman of Saudi Aramco is about to be the chairman of this new golf entity. So even without this move Sam would have likely gone to LIV anyway. LIV was going to either spend billions to take out the PGAT or spend billions to invest in it.

My prediction:

The PGAT and DP World Tour will operate a standard tour like we're familiar with.

The PGAT will introduce a mini-tour selected from the regular tour for elite players at the top of the world rankings with a smaller field and guaranteed purses.

LIV will be the team-focused events and emulate the F1 model. Hopefully, we'll get something like the constructor's cup for manufacturers since the makers won't have to worry about being ostracized for the saudi connection (i.e., Team Taylormade playing stealths vs. Team Callaway playing paradyms, etc).

The majors will operate outside the structure of any tour and be open to players that qualify, either based on rankings or other criteria.

I'm sure the LPGA Tour is making calls to the Saudis now.

Fatter wallets thanks to Saudi money. Not really interested in hearing more "growing the game" bull**** from anyone on either side tho. Growing wallets, absolutely.
