you're a member out there right? is the course set-up pretty tough right now?

I struggle to break 80 there. It's not as firm and fast as it was last year but it's pretty demanding on striking approach shots well or balls don't stay on greens and when they roll off they don't trickle a few yards away they run off down slopes creating tough up and downs. Its pretty forgiving off the tee though

For comparison I just got back from Streamsong a few weeks ago...going into the trip i had a 6.7 HC and shot 77, 77, 81, 73, 70

Last week in Hawaii I shot 76 at Wailea Emerald, 80 at Wailea Gold, and 79 at Kapalua Plantation in 25+ mph wind.

I think im still like an 8 HC at Houston Oaks =(

Its been a while since I've been out there, but from what I remember if you're in the wrong place out there, its easy for the strokes to pile up.

I have an opening in my weekend and I'm debating making the drive over there tomorrow and spectating - do they allow that?

Side note, I played Sandhill Farms for the first time yesterday which is not far from Houston Oaks. It was a cool experience.

Did they do anything to help the players deal with the heat? I know in the past I've been one of those people complaining about the lack of majors in Texas, but the heat we're having in Houston now is a great reason why we don't.

Wondering the same. I saw a cart in one photo and was hoping they were riding. We played 18 today from 11-3 and it was scorching. Can't imagine carrying a bag today.

Lots of water stations and carts driving with water. Cold towels as well...it was pretty hot out there but no carts

There is a father's day fishing tournament in the morning out there then I might head over to watch a few holes

Which Wailea course did you like best? Heading there in Sept to play Kapalua and one of the Wailea courses, but not sure which one.

Jase can flat out golf his ball. He can be a bit erratic with a bad round slipping in every once in a while, but not many amateurs capable of going lower than him on any given day. He's a family friend and I've been following his jr/college career for a while. Big OU family and he committed to them as a freshman in HS, but he's a great kid.
