I don't get it. What was the context?

Wyndham clark was a relatively unknown golfer and he just won the US Open last week which is a major championship. Fast forward to today, he is paired up with Justin Thomas, and he made JT mark and pick up his ball on the green when he was still 80 yards out which led to the vid.

I was watching their group live and they were already backed up on that hole, and the next was a par 5 that was also backed up, too. The commentary was they were taking their time as they certainly weren't going anywhere once they finished the hole.

JT walked up to the green prior to his shot, and that's not something he would normally do from 80yds out.

I didn't hear the exchange, but I'm guessing JT asked if he should mark, knowing they had plenty of time to waste anyhow. Clark probably said "sure, why not" and then JT made his comment as a joke.

Earning cash is never a bad thing, but finishing 60th isn't going to do much towards earning his tour card at this point. Hopefully, he can rest up and be ready for a better finish in Detroit next week.

yeah Bennett needs FedEx Cup points, not cash. Missing the cut is no bueno.

Barring a top 5 with his remaining exemptions he will probably have to go KFT route next year or finish top 3 in q school finals tourney the week before Christmas. The only tourney I know he has left is Rocket Mortgage next week. As mentioned on another thread, may make sense for him to play a few KFT events and try and win one. Castillo and Dumont Chassert who were in his same PGA U class have already won and basically secured their tour cards in only a start or two.

I don't think there is a path at this point. The top 2 or 3 finishers at the Scottish Open qualify, but I'm guessing that he's not invited.

He has the talent, but this early in your professional career is EXTREMELY rare. A top 10 would be nice but most likely he will be going KFT route.
