The new par 3 looks like is good hole.

Shefflers putter has to heat up. Being ranked over 100 in putting is not going to get it done.

I was listening to a podcast this morning they said Sheffler is something like 180 strokes gained against the field tee to green and only 20 other guys are past 50 strokes gained. He's the only one above 100.

What are yalls thought on the internal OB on 18? Seems crazy to me you could be just off the fairway and be OB for no real reason other than that's where someone decided to draw the white line.

Kind of tight but isn't that a par 5. Risk reward I guess. Let's see who chokes on 18 Sunday.

You could argue placement of the OB but it isn't internal. There is a driving range to the right of that area based on the course map. Does seem a bit tight but it's there for everyone. I just don't see it as much different than any closing hole with OB. 18 at the old course as an example. Granted you have 100 yards to the left but a little right and it's gone. Pebble 18 has OB to the right as well.

There is a member's range (wont be in use for the tourney) to the right and that par 5 is a hard dogleg right. Without it being OB, players would just bomb one on the direct route and play from there. There will also be grandstands there, so without OB, they could just bomb a drive into the corner behind them and take a free manmade immovable obstruction drop back closer to the fairway. So big picture, it basically just forces them to play the hole as designed, but unlikely to really come into play as long as they do that.

And the same concept is in play for #3 on the other side of the range. Again, it's just removing the range as a cheat code on 2 holes, which all of us have played courses where the range was close to a fairway and marked as OB.

Anyone else waking up early to watch? It's my favorite tournament of the year. Got a fresh bag of coffee this morning. Nothing beats waking up at 3am to watch golf in peace and quiet while the family is asleep not interrupting me.
