Qualifiers started this past Monday. Anyone else trying to qualify? I am in the Wildcat qualifier on August 16th.

Made it in with a 74 at Hearthstone. Anyone else going to be playing the city?

6 over through 17 and then double bogey on 18 after sending my tee shot OB

Followed up piping a drive then 6 iron off the green right and failed to get up and down for a double and a 79.
****ing hell

That's a tough tee shot with driver

I should have just hit driver over the right ob area and it opens way up. Didn't even know it was there.
At the end of the day I hit two really bad 4 irons on and it cost me 5 strokes

Had my state mid am qualifier at Hearthstone and that 18th is a beast, especially since I'm not comfortable hitting a draw with the driver, and then the second shot is no slouch either. Luckily had enough room on the leaderboard and just played for bogey.
Guy I was playing with was inside the cut and ended up making an 8 on the last.

I feel his pain.

Will say good greens and fairways at hearth

Everything else is trash and the ob stakes a foot inside the fence line is complete bull**** and screwed a few players

Forgot I made this thread. I missed the cut by two strokes at Wildcat. HGA really dropped the ball with our qualifier. The pace of play became a huge issue and is one of the reasons I missed the cut. They had the senior qualifier going on at the same time and they tee'd off on 10. You could tell things were starting to back up on the 12th hole. A rules official came by and said one of the senior groups was 45 mins behind. By the 15th hole there were 4-5 groups stacked up. The 16th is a par 3 and I sat 40mins between hitting a shot. Completely unacceptable.

Sounds like you played Highlands... #16 is already a tough hole, and not one I'd want to sit around for 40 minutes waiting on (not that I'd want to do that on ANY hole).

For those that played Hearthstone... while it's always in really good shape every time I've been out there, I can't stand that course (with the exception of the 9 that is mostly self-contained on the NW side of the property). I'm not sure what nines are used, but there is some real white knuckle golf out there on the other nines.

The par 3 3rd hole on one of the nines that is 230+ and it's wedged between the bayou and OB is gross. Oh...and it's usually into the wind.

I was talking to a co-worker and I really had only 2 tee shots I could really open up driver.

1 on horsepen with an adjoining fairway right, still ob left, but I just played a bomb down the adjoining fairway.
9 on jackrabbit, again wide open right and ob left

Every other hole including every par 3 had ob and or water in play on both sides of the hole pretty much the entire length. Ass hole puckered on almost every single tee shot.

I hit 4 drivers the entire day, and one was on 9 horspen after throwing a 4 iron OB that I basically had to hit to try and make "birdie" after having to retee.

Nothing relaxing off the tee there.

3 of the 5 par 3's we played the guy I played with layed up to the front with a 6 iron and then just tried to get up and down to take double or triple out of play.
He literally just didn't even try to make the green.

The other guy shot 47 on the front, wanted to quit and we convinced him to just have fun and play out the back, he aced number 16 and shot 38 on the back.

It's short but it's a tight course and the par 3's are all long irons. I hit driver on Horse 1 and 6 and Jack 1 and 9. That's it. Lots of 3 or 4 irons off the tee. If you can keep the ball in play there, you can keep it in play anywhere.
