I'm headed there next week, it's part of the Dormie Club Network. Playing 54 holes over 2 days, preview rounds for a Ryder Cup style event I will be back for in late September. Just looking for any course knowledge

One of the most difficult courses I've ever played. But also one of the best.

Take alot of balls. Knee high grass on both sides played as lost balls.

Lots of water from old mining troughs.

But coolest thing is the variety of tee boxes. Creates significantly different views and hole angles.

Last par 3 (maybe 16?) is insane. Water everywhere

Great event you'll really enjoy.

Don't have first hand knowledge like boo but a good friend of mine (who played college golf) grew up in that area and used to caddy there. Definitely a tough test with water everywhere. Although apparently when Dormie took it over, they "softened" it a bit to make it a little more playable. Some OG members preferred it with all its teeth. Still looks plenty tough to me based on the website photos. No doubt it'll be awesome.

Just leaving. Played 4 rounds over 3 days. Incredibly tough test. There is nowhere to miss, on any hole. Caddies really help with reading the greens. They were rolling at about a 12 this week, tough but fair. I'm a 9.8 handicap, and shot rounds of 95, 94, 89, and 88.

Most courses that you play, if you make a mistake on a hole, you can scramble for par or bogey. There is no scrambling for anything other than double or triple at VNGC.

The cabins and service are top notch, the food in the clubhouse is the best I've ever had at a golf facility. Steaks, pork chops, short ribs, tuna, it was all absolutely fantastic. Pics forthcoming.

A childhood friend of mine was part owner of Victoria until about t 2021. The big owners wanted to spend a lot of money on the course and facilities. Too much $$$ for my friend so he was bought out.
He still has privileges there and one day I will make it there to stay and play.
