Has anyone used Club Champion recently? I am thinking about going full fitted set since I have irons that are about 17 years old (blades), a 3 wood that is a regular shaft and old, and my driver is about 10 years old as well. Would you recommend Club Champion? How much damage did it do to your wallet as well?

IMO, not worth it. Go to a demo day or multiple and get fit there.

I've used the Club Champion in Memorial and have been very pleased with the experience and the clubs I have purchased. It's not cheap but they run promos quite frequently. You get free TrackMan practice for a year if you spend over a $1k and free loft and lie adjustments for the life of the clubs (might come with all purchases?).

CC is fine for fitting but it's absolute robbery what they charge for clubs.

Print your spec sheet and buy the clubs somewhere else.

This. I paid for the full fitting, got my specs, and built my bag through Facebook groups/marketplace and other online outlets. At the end, I saved myself over $1,500 by not buying the clubs through Club Champion.

I had a good experience at Club Champion (San Antonio). I only did a driver fitting, not full bag or anything.

I ordered through Club Champion and it only cost me ~$40 more than if i had pieced together the driver/shaft combo myself.

Yup. Me too.

GolfWRX classifieds, here, Ebay, Facebook...Piece it all out and drop it off at PGA Superstore or somewhere and let them build the clubs to the specs.

If you do want to buy new, email your specs to discountdansgolf.com

They have been consistnently the least costly out of all the online stores and they don't charge for shipping.

Been thinking about doing this very thing. Never been fitted before. Should I tell them I plan on doing this up front and will that affect the quality of my fitting?

So essentially go there and pay the $100 for a full bag fitting and at the conclusion ask for your spec sheet and just piece it together?

It's quite a bit more than $100.

A full bag fitting is $400 and it doesn't go towards the cost of the clubs. Not worth it imo.

Club champion is not worth the money. The after market shafts you'll get fit into aren't going to make any noticeable difference in your game. Manufacturers offer enough stock options to get fit into.

I paid for a good fitting, but only tried stock shafts.

MK Golf in SA. Replaced every club in the bag for probably half the cost of what club champion would've been.

Real nice but really expensive. I went to PXG and was very happy. Plenty of club and shaft options and a lot less $ than CC.

I think it's worth going somewhere where you can hit multiple manufacturers, you are going to see a wide range of results

Do you have any suggestions where you would go? I currently live in Cstat so Houston is the closest.

Impact Precision in Spring

I did my 2nd fitting here after my first at CC and I won't go anywhere else now. Trevor is great.

we really need this stickied at the top. If you're in College station, there's a CC off I45 near the Woodlands. About 5 miles south down 45 is Impact Precision, which Ag_07 mentioned and I highly recommend. Both places use a trackman for fitting and have every shaft imaginable. Yes, both will be expensive if you decide to buy everything from them, $2,000 or so for a new iron set or more. CC work heavily off commission so the pressure to buy can be a turn-off for many, including myself. If this is the kind of high tech fitting you're wanting, go to impact. If you're fine having a fitting with less options but still using some type of launch monitor there many places you can go. Golftec would be an option where you get fit with options but won't pay for some exotic graphite shaft that may get you a few extra yards distance. There's also a Golftec in the woodlands and one in Cypress you could go to.

It was my experience that Impact Precision was significantly cheaper that CC

It's bee while but I think CC quoted me at $1200 for just a driver. Ridiculous to the point that it's price gouging.

I wouldn't do a full bag fitting at CC, just the long-game clubs. Take the specs for those and piece them together elsewhere as others have said if you don't mind doing the work. Would highly recommend getting fit for your irons outdoors so you get a true feel of how the clubs moves through the turf at impact.

I went to club champion for a full bag fitting minus putter a few months ago. All total, I spent 6 hours over the course of a couple days trying out different irons, drivers, shafts etc. That process was great and we spent much longer than originally scheduled. However, prepare to take out a second mortgage to buy the equipment. Definitely recommend getting the specs and just buying it elsewhere on your own.

I went to CC in Plano 6 years ago. I never felt pressured. Ended up keeping my Mizuno irons(4 years old at the time) and just got new shafts. I also bought the Ping G400 that day.
I had a great experience and it really improved my game. I've recommended them ever since. I've had several buddies use them and they had the same experience. I was obsessed so I walked in knowing the market prices and did not get price gouged.

Anyone here ever used Edwin Watts on Westheimer in Houston for a fitting? I am getting back into the game after a 10-12 year hiatus. Hitting the range regularly the last few weeks and it's a two steps forward/one back advancement, but moving forward at least. Will be handing my clubs off to my son and look to get an irons/woods fitting and was talking to a fitter there that I liked. He seemed genuinely interested in my knocking the rust off and gaining stamina before coming back for a fitting, which I would want to do anyway obviously. Evidently no additional cost, and said sometimes they want to see the person getting fit come back later when they either lack stamina or the swing gets off during the fitting, so no real pressure. I don't live in Houston, but when it's time I plan on going to get fit by the person I spoke with there unless EW gets trashed too much here.

TIA.

No experience with their fitting, but the guys in there all seem pretty helpful and fairly knowledgable when I've poked my head in there.

So the airline broke my driver on a flight this morning, which isn't covered by them since its not a hard case. However, Chase Sapphire Reserve to the rescue and I believe I'll have up to $3,000 to replace it. Thinking about going to a Club Champion for a fitting and driver.

Looks like they currently have half off on fitting if you buy the club from them, so that would make the fitting $80 and then the driver will be covered.

I've never been fit for a club though. Hopefully its a good experience

May not be enough to cover a driver from CC.

wherever you go, just make sure they are giving you good answers and you are giving them good questions.

- what will changing the static loft do for me (moving from a 9.5 deg to a 10.5 deg, for example) - what will it affect?
- what shaft weight should I get and why?
- what flex should I get and why?
- what is the best combination of flex and weight for me, given my numbers and why?
- should I be trying to get higher loft, more carry for distance or do I want lower trajectory less carry and more roll? what will change those the most?
- assuming I get a better driver today for my numbers, assume I improve over the next 6-12 months - what should I be looking for? More carry, more/less shape, more height, less curve, less backspin?

those are just some things I think about when doing this.

It is interesting and fun to see the numbers change with different things going on with the equipment...its all about optimization.

Didn't go to CC, went to 2nd Swing near me in Columbia. Hit nearly everything and lots of combos. The Paradigm was by far the winner. So consistent, looked and felt great.

Also hit every putter I think and ended up with the sexiest one out there.
