What happened to Scheffler yesterday? Last I saw yesterday, he was at -13 with a 4 stroke lead. I look today and it says he went +1 in round 1. Did he have some blow up holes on the back?

Yes. My post was kind of confusing. I saw yesterday he had gotten to -13 and was playing good. When I looked today, I saw that he had ended round 1 at -9. Was just wondering what happened to where he lost 4 strokes.

If Hovland gets hot again on the back 9, he could possibly put this away today. He's got a 4 stroke lead and none of the other guys near the top are playing well outside of Schauffele.

Hovland now leading by 5 strokes. Morikawa and Scheffler have both had bad rounds.

Edit: Make that a 7 stroke lead now.

Same here. I've heard his name before but know nothing about him.

Schauffele is keeping the pressure on Hovland. He's -5 for this round through 8 holes. Hovland is still holding on to a 5 stroke lead though.

Hovlands iron play has been incredible the last 2 weeks. He's finally got a short game to go along with it. You've got to think with his talent that he will eventually win a major.

Yep...and VH lipped out about 3 other birdie putts when Schauffele was making his run.

Wyndham Clark had a nice payday for finishing 3rd also!!!!
