Just landed in Denver

Headed to Fossil Trace this afternoon

Then tomorrow morning the rest of the guys are getting in town and we are headed 7 hours into Northern Nebraska to stay and play Caprock Ranch. Sunday we leave to head back to Colorado to play Ballyneal.

Caprock was just placed in top 100 of some the ratings groups and Ballyneal was rated a top 40 course.

I'll add some pictures as we go

Pretty solid timing weather wise with mild Temps and we got some pretty good rain last week.

Always enjoy your travel threads. That one looks like Scotland, not what you'd expect for a typical Colorado layout.

There are lots of golf courses in Colorado that look like this, but usually people are traveling to the mountains and think of Mountain Golf. But there are lots of good courses built like this into the prairies

Nebraska too right? Never been to that part of the country but just like Colorado, you don't expect to see that in Nebraska either.

IMO, the terrain and weather are more conducive to those style courses in Nebraska.

I get what Mooseherd is saying, but there's not a ton of courses like Ballyneal in Colorado. Theres plenty of contemporary links-y style courses but I can't think of many that compare to places like Prairie Club, Dismal River, Caprock, Wild Horse, or Landmand. Maybe Raindance, Murphy Creek, and Colorado Golf Club to some extent.

Rodeo Dunes will certainly change that though if it is not highly developed with residences.

The turf here is the best turf I've ever played on....here and Muirfield Field Village.

Gil Hanse is course designer (my favorite) and he's here this weekend. He just built his house here and has all his friends and family in for a house warming party. I got to meet him on the range this morning. Super nice guy. I can say enough good things about this place....the lay out, the greens, the turf.... this place is so good. I expect it to rise in rankings a lot in near future

18 is a 204 yard par 3 up hill across the canyon. 100% carry

Love this hole

Love the high grass, not being in it, but it makes a great look for the course.

Caprock has the best set of par 3s I've ever seen.

They are fantastic

9 and 18 are hard as ****

The other are short/medium in length but extremely penalizing if you don't hit the greens

Played it also, it's fun. Better accommodations. Wasn't crazy about the short course. Preferred Caprock of the two.

Basically exactly what we have been told

Caprock should be top 50 IMO...might be too new though for the politics of rankings

It was OK

Didn't feel like the same class as caprock. The greens were over the top undulated and slopey....it felt forced and not natural. I'm not a huge fan of Doak. One guy in our group loved it and preferred it of caorock but he was the only one.

Caprock is just so damn good...its in my top 5 in US for sure. (Of courses I've played)
