Do y'all use the same club inside 100 generally or use various clubs?

I'm an 11.6 cap right now. I have a 58, 54, & 49 then PW-5i.

That 58 at a smooth 80% swing is 85 yards, the 54 is 105, and the 49 is 120-125.

I typically use the 58 for everything inside 85 and do well with it (excluding green side bump and runs). Probably one of the strengths of my game since I practice it so much. But curious if I'm losing any strokes by not using the other wedges. The 50-60 yard shot is an awkward distance for me to consistently get close compared to inside 40 or 70/80 yards.

Yes, I vary. A combination of distance as well as how "welcoming" the green is drive my decision. 50, 54, and 58 are all in play.

On that 40-80, when the green is welcoming, i go with a little less loft. It's not exactly british open style, but hitting something that is a bit more of a chip and has a bit of bounce and roll out is a good go-to for me.

No I don't use same club inside 100 but I know how to hit 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 94 yards.

I never make a full swing with 54 and 58. It will be 25%, 50% and 75%. 75% with 54 gets me 94 yards and depends on where I grip the club, it varies the distance.

Having a system for 100 yards in mo is the key to lowering your handicap.

What I described may sound complex but it's really simple. More often than not I 50% knockdown swing with my 58 for 80yards in.

The 58 back in my stance, feet close together and slightly open, and choked down is how I play most of my shots from inside 70.

That weird distance between shaft parallel to ground and left arm parallel to the ground is where I feel I'm not as accurate.

It varies. 59,53, and pw are all in play within 100 yards.

Get a good feel for pitch swing, 1/2 and 3/4 swings and you can get 9 different yardages with three clubs. Then you can play around with ball positions and get ven more with different ball flights.

I'm in the middle of dialing all mine in but apparently I can't use range balls to do it.

Wayyy over thought it today. Got out my game and couldn't hit a green from inside 110. Only had 3 pars and 2 were the last 2 holes I played. Shot an 89.

F it lol

inside 100 I use a few clubs for different reasons

Gap wedge (lowest flight), sand wedge (mid flight), lob wedge (highest flight)

Within those clubs I use three ball positions

Front (most carry, least run), middle (middle carry, middle run), back (least carry, most run)

Within the combination of the above I hit

"Full" (most comfortable all the way back feel), 75% (in between), 50% (hip height)

I generally just measure the club + middle position + swing amount, and get a number. Then, I use the ball position based on what the green dictates I need.

When I have enough time to keep all my wedges dialed, I feel really confident inside 120. I had exactly one round this year that I felt like that though. I did have 5 birdies, and a chance for a few more. It was 100% just wedges peppering the flag though.

It depends on where you are as well as to what bounce i want to use. I alao have a 50% swing for my 50, 54, 58 all under 100 yards. Then can do variations of that by opening the clubface a little or choking down

I take either a 7 or 9 and bump and run.

As an 11.6, you can probably cut a lot of strokes in other areas before you worry about hitting multiple wedges from yardages.

I pretty much use a 58 from 105 in, but I'll hit it high/low depending on the need. When I get real close to the green I usually go to my 54, but the 50 and 58 are still in play depending on the shot required.

I'm a 20 hcp (go ahead guys tell me this is where this thread doesn't apply to me, I'm aware) and on top of the PW in my iron set, I carry a 50 & 54 with an 8 bounce and 52 & 56 with a 12 bounce. I just use the 50 & 54 from the fairway or other tight lies. The 50 I'll use when the approach is inviting and I can bounce and roll the ball on the green. The 54 is when I need the ball to carry greenside trouble.

The 52 doesn't get much use but the 56 is for everything in the rough, but I wonder if I should try the 52 more often with a less than full swing.

That's a lot of wedges to carry

I know, I only have a driver and 3w then straight to a 4i. I need to reassess the makeup of my bag. I typically use all those wedges during a round.

I'd go 50,54,58. You could probably bend the 56 to 58 and just eliminate the 52.

as others have mentioned, get 3-4 wedges with 3 different distances you can hit consistently. The lie you have, combined with the carry and roll you need will determine which one of the 9-12 shots you should hit.

As an 11 hdcp, I am not sure you would want to get this granular, so I would stick with one wedge and learn how to dial it up/down as needed...then bringing in your other wedges to fit that model is pretty straightforward.

PW in my set is 46. After that I go 50-55-60

58, 53, AW, PW

I never hit my 58 or 53 past 80%.
