Anyone play either of these recently?

I have time Wednesday to play one and would prefer to play the one in better shape, particularly in regards to the greens.

Thanks

Are you talking about Bear Ridge in Waco?

I cannot imagine Salado's greens being any good. I have lived in Belton for eight years and the Mill Creek greens have always been bad. NOthing they can do without a multi million dollar restoration that apparently they have no desire to take on.

Bear Ridge is a great course but have not been there this year.

Yea my buddy lives on Mill Creek and he said it would be hard to imagine any course in the area having worse greens.

Yes, meant Bear Ridge.

Sounds like Mill Creek is not the answer, so maybe I'll head up to Waco.

Thanks for the info.

My golf goals this year are to:
1) play more than I have the past two years (home construction really zapped any time I had)
2) try to play a few rounds when able away from my home course (Wildflower). would like to get some variety
3) work on putting.

This week I have some time on Wednesday to go play somewhere that is close by and would like to have decent greens if possible

appreciate the input.

sad to hear. used to play a tournament every summer out there and always had fun. was a nice little course in the 90's. was it 3 with the heart shaped green?

wildflower is in good shape. greens were a little slow this weekend, but given the heat and lack of rain it's easy to see why they haven't been cutting them too short

with yesterday's rain and this weeks cooler temps, maybe they'll cut them back to normal today

Mill Creek is probably in the best shape it's been in years, the greens especially. They hired outside consultants and hand watered them all summer. Fairways coming back a bit with the recent rain, but still pretty baked out. For ~$35 its really good value under current conditions..

Sorry I'm late on this but Bear Ridge in Waco has been brutalized by lack of rain and water this year…..last time I played it was rough and I wont play again unless it improves considerably…tough couple of years with the freeze and drought….layout is decent, amenities for food and bar are pretty weak…they are trying but it needs attention in a lot of areas. My group drives to Glen Rose or Whitney…..Cottonwood Creek, the local muni is a better option than Bear Ridge….
