Anyone a member or has recently played at Magnolia Creek?
I'm thinking of joining but would like to get current members thoughts on the club.

I am in a charity scramble there on Monday. I believe they are still looking for golfers. It is for a good cause.

We have not played it recently but my daughter has played there several times through STPGA Junior Tour, the course has always been in immaculate shape, beautiful links style course, I think they have 27 holes out there, not completely sure. We played a scramble to benefit First Tee there last summer at a time when most other courses were in rough shape and that course was in pristine condition, they must water the heck out of it. If it matters to you, they have great practice facility, nice range, good putting green, very nice pitching chipping area. We live across town in Cypress but every time we have made the journey across town to play it, we were impressed.

I'll be stuck at work, but please give an update with your thoughts of the course.

I was wondering if it's hard to get an early Saturday and Sunday tee time. The current initiation is $1500 for a one year commitment and monthly dues are $550 - $650 depending if you get the cart plan.

Do you know if they have done a membership overhaul in the last few years? (get rid of Young executive, raise the price, etc.) Know they were starting that across their clubs during covid with plans to apply across their portfolio.

Raised the cost per membership, but reduced the total members to provide more availability.

Agree. Played Mag when South Shore and Mag Creek split. Now back at South Shore, which is closer to my house.

Course was in pretty good shape. Not excellent. Several spots in the fairway were kinda bare, they had some grass, but it was thin and on hardpan. The greens were in good shape. They rolled slower than they looked. They were also firm. Overall, good shape. Better than any of the muni's I play around here. Don't know what they charge, but if they wanted top dollar, I would look at Bay Oaks. I should also say, I don't like links courses. Much prefer parkland style. This is my third year playing this tourney and the course conditions have always been pretty similar.

Great info, I appreciate you posting your thoughts of the course. I looked into Bay Oaks but it was a 10K initiation which is out of my budget.

I did join. There are a lot of members but it's not hard getting a decent tee time in weekend mornings. Having 27 Holes is nice because you always can play a different rotation that makes it nicer than just playing the same 18 holes. Course conditions are decent overall but it does get a lot play so plenty of divots in the fairways. The clubhouse is small and there's not much a country club feel. Also they raised the price in 2025 $40.00 per month for memberships. Also raised the cart plan. Now it's getting to be too expensive for what it is…

Forgot to to mention that MaG Creek does have a good MGA. There are Wednesday Evening 9 Hole 2 Man Scramble, Saturday Quota Game and Sunday Skins Game. Also the MGA hosts a Monthly Tournament with a different format every time. So there's always a group to play with. The price increase has gone up for the full membership with individual cart plan to $790 Month and family cart plan dues are now $822 Month, that getting too high for not having true full Country Club amenities .

Are you talking Mag Creek in League City? They've only ever had 27 holes. And $40/mo?? What am I missing?

edit: I guess you mean they raised the monthly membership price BY $40/mo? I suppose that s not unexpected. But still don't get the 36 holes - I have played there at least a dozen times since they opened and they have never had 36 holes that I can recall.

Gotcha - wish I had dollar for every time I've done something like that. Out of curiosity, and only if you're comfortable doing it, could you say what the total price is now per month? Including initiation fee if any? Always enjoyed that course whenever i have played it...

I pay $538 a month. I signed up for a 2 year commitment so the initiation fee was waived, or very nominal.

$600+ for mag is absolutely criminal. I was a member years ago at like $300 (without carts) and was considering going back. Not a chance in hell now. Wow

Know they were working on increasing pricing across their portfolio from my time at corporate, but guess I will stick to Beacon lakes for now!

dammmnn....I haven't played Mag in several years, so I cant comment on its current status, but I never viewed it as a club/course worth anything near that. considering its location I'd just drive to Galveston and play Moody, which imo is a much better course.

What's even crazier is that the members that have use their own personal golf carts still have to pay the full monthly cart plan rate of $162.38. They don't get a discount/break for having their own carts. That's nuts.

Does the $800 x month include the greens fees? Or do you still have to pay something for each round?

I haven't played Mag Creek in a while. But I do know a few years back we got an influx of a number of their members. I'm guessing thats when changes started happening that people got tired of.
