Ags win, sips lose, out on a frosty morning for a late-season round of golf. Life is pretty good at times.

On mats, life is not good

They actually have grass there, a pretty large area of it, too. But I've never seen anything open other than the mats.

Looks similar to Highland Pines?

I've never played either of those courses. Let me add a couple of more pics.
I showed some of these to my Italian golfing buddy from Milan. His response was "lots of trees"…

That looks beautiful, but I think I'd get tired of playing such a tight course without options off the tee.

I never understood why Kapalua's range was so bad. Guess they didn't want to waste any good real estate on the range

Too expensive to flatten it all out I would guess

They have to lose thousands of range balls every year

Luckily, most of the trees are pines, so there isn't too much of a leaf issue right now.

It gets old, yes. However, of the courses I play here, this is about the easiest in terms of losing balls.

Someday soon I'll throw up some pictures from Tseleevo, Links National, and Forest Hills. They are newer and prettier courses. Moscow Country Club is getting a bit long in the tooth, and really could use a facelift.

Yes but what about seeds ? Those seeds can be pesky too .

The biggest problem with leaves, IMAO, is losing a ball under them, and that's not really a problem with pine cones.

About a decade ago I played Wentworth in October on the original East Course. Funny little track, and a completely different vibe than the famous West Course. In any event, leaves were everywhere, and I kept losing balls in the fairway. I might know within 5-10 yards where it ended up, but it was hopeless. For a course that expensive, I'm really surprised they didn't have a tractor-pulled blower out there keeping things in playable shape.
