Playing there Friday. My buddy is a member. Any thoughts on the course and its current conditions?

Been a member for 15 years. Fairways and green surrounds worst shape I've ever seen them in those 15 years. Sorry…. Tee boxes and greens are fantastic as always though. Course was supposed to have been stripped and regrassed last year but that has now been pushed back with no timeline given….

I was going to say hello friend …… but that sounds rough. Loved seeing the course when Sergio played Shiels.

I mean it's not bad, it's just not what it was at the moment. Fairways are a little thin in areas and the green surrounds are really grainy and very difficult to chip out of well. They had to replace a bunch of grass around the greens in an effort to remove rogue Bermuda strains that has crept in and those new sod areas just never got fully established before the end of the growing season. I'm sure it will be back better this spring.

I was out there the day when Sergio was with Rick and Bryson filming those videos . In Ricks slight defense the wind was definitely up but he made it look like us open bethpage out there for sure….

Ok good to hear, yeah the course beat Rick up that day.

qualified for state mid-am when it was hosted there a number of years ago. Always hoping to find a way to get out there seeing as I live in Bee Cave I pass it all the time. As a high school coach would love the treat 2-3 of my better players out there at some point, but I know that is a long shot...such a great place.

Enjoyed my time today at Spanish Oaks. Yes, the fairways were meh. Greens and tee boxes were immaculate.

Great time. Played decent.

Does Sergio still live in Spanish Oaks? He's was my good buddy's neighbor for a while until my buddy moved to Europe.

According to my buddy who is a member he still lives there.

He also told me that Sergio's wife was previously married to another Spanish Oaks member and left him for Sergio

Had a caddie there once that during our round told stories of the whole Sergio/angela situation at the time she was married. Don't remember a lot of details but it seems she paraded around in full view with Sergio at the club while still married/going through the divorce. Sounded sorta ugly.
