Ridiculous they gave him an exemption to play. He's the head pro at Calusa Pines in Naples. This is the 2nd time they've let him in with similar results. Clearly has given some guest rounds to the right people

Eh, one bad outing for a guy that probably plays well on tough courses happens. 2 isn't great. Probably going to be harder to get a 3rd shot without qualifying.The Milkman said:

Was it a sponsor's exemption? If so, I don't see why it's a big deal. It's not like he's taking up a spot from the field.The Milkman said:

I bet nobody can name a single sponsor's exemption that played in any of the PGA Tour events let alone the Champions Tour..
It was and yeah that takes a spot from the field from someone who was actually deserving. But yeah on champs tour it doesn't matter.
On the PGA Tour? This week it was Spieth, Fowler Rose and Woodland. More of a who's who because of the limited field for an elevated event. But ordinarily it'll be often people someone you've heard of that is past his prime but has a connection with the tournament sponsor.
The issue is now with the smaller fields and bigger purses, the opportunity to play in those fields is more valuable than ever. A sponsors exemption removes some meritocracy. It's one thing if it's Spieth, but exactly 0 extra people are tuning in because Webb Simpson or Charley Hoffman are in the field.
