I got fit 5-6 years ago but don't remember the expectation. Do you tip for a fitting? Mine would probably just be an iron fitting, about 75 minutes.

If it matters, I am thinking of doing it at PGA Superstore in Katy but open to suggestions. I did Impact Precision before, but they are very far and think the messed up my last fitting so thinking of somewhere new and hopefully closer.

If you feel the fitter went above and beyond what you agreed to pay and it would make you feel whole. That's how I treat anyone. If it's a sonic drive up or car wash. I try to never go into a situation feeling like I have to tip just because that's the norm.

Sandwhich maker at Pot Belly's being friendly, hooking up the turkey etc. Tip. Club wash guy at the country club who half asses the wipe down and doesn't smile. Beat it nerd.

I would suggest trying an actual clubfitter as opposed to PGA Superstore. The PGA Superstore guys are just retail employees who like golf, they have no idea what they're talking about, generally. My first fitting was at PGA and was a mess. Went to a pro for my second and third fittings and it was a remarkably better experience and outcome. Not familiar with the Katy area, but I am sure you have some clubfitters nearby who can do it for you.

Go to the PXG store in Houston. They treated me well.

I've heard good things about the experience but do they only sell PXG's? Or can you get Mizuno, Ping, Titleist, etc?

Just PXGs, which sucks because it is a great fitting experience

PXG heads but you can get fitted for whatever shaft then take that info with you and buy from somewhere else.

I was thinking,"Do you tip?" Yes, I definitely cut an inch off the tip of my driver and fairway woods, but No I usually don't tip $$ for a fitting.

Just curious what went wrong with Impact? I recently got fit for irons there and, so far, have been very pleased with the results. So much so that I went back for a long game fitting and putter fitting. I did not tip.

I think they are probably good. I've heard good things from others and have a relative that swears by them.

In my case, they put me in X-stiff shafts. I didn't know what I didn't know back then. There was 0 chance I ever needed X-stiff, and as I get lessons now or talk to my club pros, they are say "Why the heck do you have those shafts? That was a big screw up if you got fit for those."

Who knows why it happened, It just makes me open to new fitters to check out. I need to replace the shafts, which essentially means I just end up buying new clubs for a few hundred more. If I replace my current shafts to regular or stiff models, it is over $600. So just add another $600 and get all new irons I guess.

I did not tip since I also bought from my fitter. I might be inclined to otherwise, depending on the experience. I also have lifetime loft/lie adjustments as long as I keep the clubs, so I would tip if/when I had that done.

I went to a place called Club Champion and got fit. The fitter took his time and put me into a lot of different clubs and shafts. He listened to me talk about the issues I had on the course and worked on improving that even if it was just giving me a quick swing lesson. I paid a little more than I would have if i custom ordered on my own but I think it was worth it

Did a putter fitting at Club Champion years ago. The fitting cost was $100 plus the cost of the putter. The fitter also corrected a few errors in my putting swing. But I didn't feel any need to tip and the fitter didn't give any vibe that it was expected.
